I purchased the old combo in June at that price. Good deal. I wish I would have known about the new design stand.

I bought the older version on Black Friday. I actually prefer the look of the older black base.

Any opinion on how this compares to the Top Fin aquariums as part of this sale? For ex. comparing the 55 gallon (48"x13"x12") for $100?

I know we're talking 75 gal vs 55 gal..but in terms of brand, are they comparable or is Marineland superior?

The 55 gal Top Fin has a little less depth (13" vs 18") which might suit my space better, and it has more accessories (thermometer, filter)..but any opinions if these accessories actually add value, or am I better off choosing these myself and buying separately?

Obviously the Marineland comes with a stand, and those are not cheap..but I was thinking I could maybe build something as alternative.

Thanks,

Thanks,

I built a stand once for a large aquarium, it wasn't exactly level (and I mean exactly) and after about six months one of the seams split and dumped the entire amount of water on to my floor.

Oh, that sucks.

Say, I have confidence in the design build for a DIY stand..any additional thoughts on considering the marinland at 75 gal with stand vs top fin 55 gal with their accessories? $250 vs $100.

The one nice thing with designing and building a stand (if it goes well)- personally, I've always found aquarium stands to be a bit too low..I feel like it'd be nicer to have say the top of the aquarium closer to eye level when standing (and i'm very average height)..not sure if I'm the only one that feels this way.

I had the same problem too in my apartment - and the cause is because of "torque" or twisting. Your aquarium corners did not touch the corners of your table. I have had titled (to the right) aquariums for years but never cracked. But when I moved to a new apartment I forgot to check if the new counter touched my aquarium corners (and it did not) and so it cracked within 3 weeks. 45 gallon water spilled all over the floor.

The knowledgeable fish tank guy (King of DIY) also had this torque problem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N...ekingofDIY

Solution: Make sure all of your aquarium corners touch the corners of the stand. If it's longer than 36" then make sure the middle aquarium touches the stand too. You can check this by sliding a piece of paper under it. If your paper goes through than get a flat plywood (the one that does not absorb water - compressed wood is bad).

I thought I'd check it out. I got promo codes from the app, but when I tried to apply them on an online order under 'enter promo code', it said the code could not be applied.

Will this only work in store maybe? Or am I applying it in the right place? Or maybe it doesn't work for this?

The "hard" level is actually difficult lol. I can't get it after three tries... Just going to be happy with a 20% off coupon for finishing up to medium difficulty.

Ok, still better than nothing. Anyone know if I can order online for store pick up and present the coupon in store for a refund at that time?
