Not true. Just reach out to @tmobilehelp on Twitter via DM with the imei and they'll unlock it for you. I just did it last week. No special approach required. The unlock was successful in 8 hours.

Samsung might be trying to get rid of this model, I hear call performance and data connection have been a huge issue with this device. Research this device before you spend any money on it! Even as of recently, many have said this phone is absolutely terrible, BUYER BEWARE!

I just ordered one and paid with Paypal. If they do not accept the trade in, I assume I would have more time to fight back as they can't auto charge my Paypal. First time doing trade-in so hope for the best here.

WiIl this phone work on the Sprint network after it's unlocked. I'm using Mint right now but would like a new phone for my work phone which is Sprint. Aren't Sprint and T-mobile together now? Also, does this phone permit tethering? I've read all the threads and didn't see these questions answered.

I'd used the chat to ask if my Samsung Note 3 was eligible; he asked if it powered ON/OFF, if the screen was cracked and if it can still make a call; I answered Yes/No/Yes and he said I should be fine.
