This is what it looks like for me and my wife.

I guess each kid was worth $300 each.

Didn't get anything last time and I don't expect anything this time around either. While I wouldn't have declined it if they sent it to me I think it would have made more sense to give a larger amount to those who are out of work or have reduced hours and who are really in a bind financially because of the virus. Many people are really struggling to get by and much of this stimulus is just a nice windfall for those who haven't lost any income or are getting more on unemployment than they did working.

Each kid under the age of 17 is worth $600.

I agree, I'm not a fan of the process of giving everyone who makes under $75,000 the same amount. But I believe that if they tried to put any logic into trying to decide who was currently having hardship, that the checks would have never been sent out on a timely basely. I was actually surprised on how quickly the money was deposited this time around.

Iagree
It doesn't start phasing out until $75k of income, in the vast majority of the country, that's pretty decent money.

Like all things, it depends on your cost of living where you reside.

Well, that is why I included the qualifier "in the vast majority of the country" Wink2

Yeah, I think if they did anything fairly well it was picking the amount where the amount received starts getting phased out. I think they really dropped the ball in the first round with the extra $600/week unemployment. I don't think it was ever a good idea to give anybody more in unemployment than they were making when they were working. Considering the pandemic and the uncertainty of how long this was going to go on they should have limited the extra amount to make up for any income lost but not to exceed what they would have made working. That would leave far more money available to help the ones who were really hurting.

I would have to think that $600 amount would be a slap in the face to someone who is working reduced hours who hasn't been able to keep up with their rent or buy food for their family, while their neighbor who hasn't lost any income can use it to go buy a new toy or whatever they want. But I'm sure that is one reason they keep calling it a stimulus rather than relief for Covid 19.

I received the the $ 600 direct deposit last week and promptly donated half to the local food bank and the other half to my favorite liquor store. I'm fairly well off and didn't really need it.

If you don't have direct deposit set up, they are sending debit cards.
