Got rejected, have a 780ish credit score. Maybe too many credit card sign ups recently
From what I could find online regarding BofA these are their restrictions for credit cards:

- You can only get approved for 2 new cards in a 30-day period
- You can only get approved for 3 new cards in a 12-month period
- You can only get approved for 4 new cards in a 24-month period

Apparently it only looks at BofA cards. Where as the Chase 5/24 rule looks at any credit card issued to you, regardless of which company issued it to you.

Edit: Adding the 7/12 and 3/12 rules for BofA higher up to this comment.

"7/12 and 3/12 rule"

"According to this rule, customers with a BofA deposit account will not be approved for new cards if they've opened seven cards (across all issuers) in the last 12 months, while customers without a BoA deposit account will be rejected if they've opened three or more cards in the last 12 months."

Also rejected - 820 credit score and i have no BoA credit cards (never have). They did hit me with a hard credit check though. :|

How is it possible to have multiples of the same card? I currently get 2.625% back on my BoA Travel Rewards card but I'd love to bump it up to 5.25% for multiple categories. If you or anyone else can shed some light I'd be very appreciative.
i'm new to this card too. i believe there are different variants you can apply for. i saw a breast cancer variant and a US Pride Variant

Thank you. I had no idea there were different variants. Any idea where to find them? I don't think I saw any on the BoA site.

Also, Google search for college/university and NFL, MSB, etc. sports-team-branded credit cards.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong but their 3% online category is actually around 1% or less... I thought any website is 'online' and bought from sites such as Adidas or ebay but who knows, maybe only several limited websites are actually considered as online 3% worthy.

You will get the full 3% if the merchant/purchase qualifies but there are a lot that don't. I've received 1% rebates for many purchases I thought/hoped would receive 3%. See the link below. Scroll down to "Online Shopping". Click open the "Category Details". Click the open the link that says, "For a full listing of exclusions click here."

I had 3 cc with BofA, they closed 2 of them a few months ago and the 3rd they dropped the limit to $500 all because I was not using them. 800 score and $0 balance on all cc (not just BofA) before they closed them,
wondering if they would approve me.

Them closing the accounts dropped my score to 765 (the accounts were old and the limits were high)

If you contact them and promise to use it a lot they can reopen those accounts. Worth a try. Nothing to lose. My brother did this and they reopen his account.

Worst credit card I ever had, there's not even a separate website for the credit card, its the same as the checking and saving accounts.

I just applied and was approved for this card. Check your mail, not sure if it helps that I used a mailed offer application # for the process.

12 months no interest, $200 cash back, and home improvement rewards. Sign me up!

It's actually 15 months of free interest

I have two of the same types of BofA cash back Visa cards. It's a long story involving dishonesty at the branch (or else I wouldn't even have applied for the second card) and I didn't intend to have two identical cards, but the second account was opened at a branch and not online, FWIW.

I was still able to get the opening bonus at the branch. I had to specifically ask for it and it took them a few minutes to figure out how to give it to me after they checked the bonus' availability online. Once I told them that I would just leave and apply online if they couldn't give me the $200, they miraculously found a way to make it work at the branch.

I stopped trying to apply their credit cards a while ago since they denied me about 3 times in 3 years. Their CS told me that it was because my credit was "new" to them. Many places mentioned that you would have a higher chance to get approved if you are already doing business with them or they would consider your application at all. F Bank of America

Soon to be spouse already has had this card for 20 years....I'm added a an "extra card". Been a fabulous credit card company that I've been privy to for 10 years. Decent company. Shuts down card for any odd activity....including Canadian purchases...lol. I got approved instantly. Upper 760-780 credit score. Just wish I'd had this a week ago! Just put $1006 on the other card!

As a Bofa credit card holder, I can't emphasize enough - they are one of the worst companies I have dealt with and CS sucks. Late fee even after auto payment setup is ridiculous.

So I've had both a Visa and MasterCard version of this (that I never use) and got an interesting email today regarding the Visa, wanting me to change it to something new they're offering called Unlimited Cash Rewards. It's a 1.5% card, and obviously I can do better (I've got three 2% cards plus ones that have rotating categories for 5%) BUT what was nice about this is that if I change the card over, they're offering me $200 for spending $1000 in the first 90 days as well as 15 months at 0% interest on all purchases.

There doesn't seem to be any negative to doing this other than losing a 10% customer bonus (which I didn't have in the first place since I only have the two credit cards with them). It says it'll keep the same card number and there is no credit pull or anything like that. All I had to do to accept was click a button in the email... didn't even have to log in or anything! If you've got one of these and you haven't used the card in a while (my last purchase was last fall), you might want to be on the lookout for this.
