Yes, Numberbarn provides you the account number and PIN. You can add it to your Google FI's account online. OR, when you get the phone and download the Google FI app, you can enter it in the app that way.

You have to download the Google FI app for it to start the FI service no matter what.
Once activated using the Fi App, can it be uninstalled? Is there still a concern that Fi tracks whether the Fi SIM has been taken out of the S20?

Sorry if this has already been asked, I read everything up until I bought the phone a couple of days ago and it just arrived. Is the offer still valid if Google Fi is on esim and I put in my SIM for my other number?

Also, has anyone had issues porting out of Visible?
Galaxy S20 doesnt have esim. That esim solution is for Pixel phones.

From all the previous replies, I won't be taking out the Fi sim for 90 days. I don't want to take a risk of having to pay the $600 discount (and I don't need to use the S20 asap)

As long as you don't put the Fi sim in another phone, you should be ok.

I might not either. But Iin case the s21 comes out with larger storage and confirmed dual SIM, I might want to take advantage of the crazy 700 trade in offer...
Guess we'll see.

Good point. I'm not sure if I want to give up the MicroSD slot. Yes, we'll find out tomorrow!

I received mine late yesterday. Currently waiting for the port to come through but have been playing with the phone. I thought I might share some impressions for anyone still on the fence
  • First, this is a factory unlocked phone. The model number for the S20+ is SM-G986U1.
  • As far as I can tell the only Google Fi specific elements of this are that there is a slip of paper in the box describing how to activate Google Fi and a Fi SIM pre-inserted.
  • You do need to install the Fi app to activate the phone
  • It has all the Samsung crap pre-installed with many system apps as you probably expect. Netflix, Facebook, Outlook, MS Office and Onedrive are the only non-Samsung, non-Google apps I noticed.
  • My vision(which is slightly below average) can't tell the difference between 1080p and 1440p at the distances I would normally hold a phone from me. So 1080p@120Hz is definitely a better choice for me.
  • Expect to spend an hour or so applying updates. There were 5-6 updates that had to be applied sequentially.
  • The phone is pretty damn fast and having 12GB of RAM makes a huge difference in apps getting killed in the background and having to be restarted.
  • If having a phone that sits flat is important to you, make sure you get a case that accommodates that

So you cannot tell the difference between 1080p vs 1440 p, but you can tell 60HZ and 120HZ? Is it scientifically reasonable? Just asking. I don't know.

As current oneplus 7pro user, I can support that. I really can't tell the difference between 1440 vs 1080 other than the text being a bit bolder in 1080. But the scrolling smoothness is night and day between 90hz vs 60hz. I can only imagine a bigger difference between 120hz vs 60.

Yes, they measure two different things. One is resolution, how big the pixels are. The other is about smooth motion. To my eyes, the latter is more noticeable.

That being said, we all have different eyes so your experience might be totally different.

After the 90-day period is over, do you know how we can cancel Google Fi service? We wait until the 91st day and call CS to cancel? If so, are we going to be charged another month, i.e., the 4th month, of service?
