Get a heat gun / hair dryer and lightly and carefully heat the sticker to soften the adhesives. Use a new / sharp razor blade to lift up one of the edge, and slowly lift and peel while simultaneously applying heat still. If able, use some alcohol pad (if te cover can withstand such, test first at a small part) to wipe of residual adhesive.
I've got a couple of these nice hardcovers Penguin puts out. They put a lot of effort into making nice boards so they can forgo an actual dust jacket. They then proceed to use the nastiest, janky@ss, dye leaching adhesive in existence to affix a UPC code to their product. I like the Lynch movie. It's not good by any means, but it has some fantastic scenes. If you love the books it's worth a shot, just manage your expectations.

Have seen these new editions in the book store and was wondering what was up with them. I've read most of these previously, but I will get them from the library just to read the Neil Gaiman introductions for each.

Do you have any suggestions on how to take the sticker off?

Thanks! One of my favorite books and I'd love to read it again before the movie!

I have found that Oops works very well for removing adhesive. Just be careful to wipe off the adhesive and then very quickly wipe with a clean cloth. If you aren't fast, you will remove a little of the color on the book. But, this product has served me well for 30 years and over 2,000 books both hardback and paperback.
