I hear you, but this set only has three tools that most every home owner will use in the impact, drill and reciprocating saw. That being said, you could get the better battery life and weight savings on those three tools at or below this price in brushless, if you wait for a deal. If you would get use out of all these tools, then it's a nice deal.

You forgot the vacuum. If you don't already have a cordless vacuum it's a game changer. Little messes take seconds instead of minutes to clean.

Can't say if this one is any good, I do have the brushless one and it is very powerful though.

You can get this brushless kit for 299 and add a free tool. You can add a Octane Impact Wrench and do the return trick. You end up getting the brushless recip, drill, impact, and flashlight with 2 batteries and charger for $187.

Great deal, from my perspective keeping the Octane Impact for 111 or so also makes sense. with nothing to return this free tool deal smokes.

I brought a set in November. The led flashlight is already broken without any use. I am disappointed with the qualify of it. I guess it is time to try to get it replaced under the LSA.

Radio, vac, flashlight or sander needs to be swapped out to make this a slick deal. (Radio and vac really add nothing to this offer.)

Octane Impact wrench can be had for less (tool only) from DTO if you do not need it right away and if you go for "factory blemished" (I did not see any blemish on mine) and wait for sale. I got it for $69 during black friday (VERY slick deal IMHO), but have seen under $100 couple of times since then already.

What is this return trick? I am intrigued and unfamiliar
Order both - on the final order screen, you will see the prices broken down between the "free" tool and the main tool. IF you do not plan to keep the "FREE" tool, I guess you can order it for store pick up and not pick it up, OR I hear you can order "free" tool for shipping and the main tool that you intend to pick up as "store pickup". After ordering, within 45 min. you should be able to cancel the "shipped" item and you can just go and pick up your other order from the store. Of course, you can always return the unwanted item using receipt if you received both.

Does anyone have actual experience using the LSA?

People make a big deal about it, but all I've ever heard about it is hassle and disappointment.
Well they hassled me about enrolling.

I filled out the online form and attached my Home Depot receipt.

They emailed me back and say, "We can't authenticate your purchase."

They made me click on another online box and print out my receipt and mail it in. The same receipt I sent them via pdf.

They also mentioned that I had only 68 days left to do it all.

Still haven't heard back and this was before Christmas.

You rarely need to actually mail anything in anymore. If the registration doesn't go through automatically, then call them or use the 'email us' form with receipt attached and ask them to review your registration. It'll be done in a matter of days.

It isn't all that much work for the coverage (and free replacement batteries) that you'll get.

It's great if you have realistic expectations. For example, only Home Depots with tool repair/rental will do LSA work. They will charge around a $20 deposit which you should get back if you didn't abuse the tool. It can take a long time for Home Depot to do the repair, possibly a month. At the end of the day it's way better than any other power tool warranty, and the employees who work on all the tool brands and their warranties at Home Depot have said so. I've never had any issues using the LSA but the biggest factor in your LSA experience will be your specific Home Depot and not Rigid.

I called the Ridgid center and they were awesome. The key is to always upload your receipts on their portal. A few LSA tools were stuck in pending and I noticed 8 months later and they quickly fixed it. I also was supposed to mail in a receipt for a Direct Tools Outlet purchase but since I uploaded the receipt, they instantly approved it after calling them. Just upload your receipts and call them, and you'll have great customer service.
