I dunno why we still have men's size and women's size shoes. We all have feet and it just comes down to how big our hooves are.

I've used Columbia shoes as my everyday pairs for years. Still bummed they discontinued the birke trail shoe. They are stupid comfortable, but they do run a bit small. They are somewhat stylish depending on model. I used them back when I was working for a home improvement retailer on concrete floors. They held up remarkably well. I'd get a year out of them before all the tread was worn off. By then a few areas had problems. Where they fold by your pivot by the toes had developed a hole in the upper. Part of the sole separated from the upper, but it was the pointed design part of the sole, so no big surprise. Dont think I'd pay full price, but usually would get them on sales for 60 or 65 a pair. Worth it at that price. I currently have the Crestwood. I love them.

Bought these on Black Friday and returned after a week. The sole feels like a hard, flat plank of wood. The top is comfy and it is pretty warm, though.

Not dividing up the sizing would probably make it harder to create vanity sizes to appeal to people's ego. You probably wouldn't have fake women's sizes like a size 0 or 1.

I don't want to sound stupid but what's the point of fleece lined shoes. Isn't that what socks are for?

I've done my fair share of hiking in my life.... if I want to make sure my feet are warm, I put the appropriate socks on my feet.

I wish that was the $40 deal, because last time I got one for $35, best hiking shoe for normal walking around mud/dirt/etc ever.

No, but whether that matters depends on whether you're actually hiking in them. They'll be fine for nature walks from the parking lot to the nearest waterfall/vista for a quick Insta photo. However, they're ill-suited to 14 milers involving rock scrambles, stream crossings, bushwhacks and boulder hops.
