Some notes on the service:
  • Speeds 20-140 mbps download, 5-30 mbps upload depending on your location, time of day, phase of the moon, usage on the network
  • Sometimes the service completely drops out, at least once a day, and my video meetings stop working for 30-120 seconds.
  • Not great for gaming due to latency.
  • You don't have to pay for the box but you will be charged $350+ if you don't return it in good condition at the end of your service.
  • The box forgets its wifi settings when it loses power.
  • It has a battery but the transition from outlet to battery power instigates a reboot of the box.
  • WiFi on the box is not ideal - connect your own access point via the ethernet ports.
  • The box does NAT + DHCP. You cannot bypass this.
  • May require a hard credit pull.

Can you be more specific w/ your zip code?

Had xfinity 25 mb/s for $55/ mo
Now have T-Mobile 50+ mb/s for $50

The xfility service has less latency and more jitter. The t-mobile is at least 2x faster down and 4x faster up. Very pleased. Have the 5G router (round and grey) - if/when 5G arrives at my address - winning.

Also, only have 2-3 bars on the signal meter (I forget the actual numbers at the moment) - se we are far from the tower.

Despite many being extra critical on the "slickness" of this deal, it may be VERY useful in some situations.
However, I run into difficulties trying to get this.
1) it's "unavailable in your area" although Jax, FLA has a decent coverage T-mob.
2) why does it require my cell ##? doesn't it come with a separate card/##?

3) more of an advice needed: if traveling frequently, is this an easy and wise choice? THis to be used in FL, KY and OH. Potentially WA and NY

Got this for my parents. They were paying Spectrum $75/mth for 100 mbps down. T-Mobile getting avg 30 mbps down with a 2 bar signal. Set it up using their existing wifi router. It was a completely transparent change for them. Tthey are happy to be saving the the $25/mth and to be rid of Spectrum for good,

I used to have comcast triple play. I switched to Sonic Fiber for $60 per month with blazing fast speed. Never had any issue. Comcast has the worst customer service. I used to be on the phone with them for 3 hours plus for simple issue
i must disagree, ATT has the worst customer service followed very, very closely by comcast. i have had both att and comcast many and customer service is terrible for both. the issue that makes att worse is each time i ordered a package, they never delivered what was promised, either in price or in capabilities.

says prioritizing traffic all over the place. nowhere does it gives you confirmation on minimum speed it would give you. similar to the unlimited plan in the very early days

Is service limited to one address? Could I get this to take on the road?

I've had this service for about a week and I plan on cancelling in the next day or so. The service has been ok with speeds topping out at ~20Mbps, but during heavy times <1Mbps.
My modem/router currently has a primary connection on band 66, so 4g. From Reddit threads I've seen that others are getting 5g connections and the T-mobile coverage tool says my address should have good 5g coverage, but so far in my part of North Carolina there is apparently no 5g.

The biggest complaint I have over my spectrum connection is the stability. Given that T-mobile home internet users have the same priority as "heavy data users", it definitely shows in the slow speeds and very consistent packet drops I've experienced. I live ~1 mile from the tower so I'm guessing it's an overload problem.

Yes, this new style 5g modem/router is completely unconfigurable except for SSID and passwords. Super lame, but does support wifi 6 if you're into that. Maybe they'll unlock more functionality as the rollout continues.

"T-Mobile Home Internet customers receive the same network prioritization as Heavy Data Users, but should be less likely to experience congestion because the equipment is stationary and available in limited areas"

How did you get the $50 credit for a free month?
The guy from TMO just added a $50 credit to my bill for the next cycle. When I questioned how iffy this service could be he offered the credit right away.

This is going to be highly YMMV.

For me, I'm on a $39.99 Xfinity plan. 125Mbs Down, 10Mbs Up. Speedtest comes back between 100Mbs-120Mbs down, 5-6Mbs Up.

I grabbed a LTE ISP from T-Mobile to try for several months when they first offered it. Speedtest came back ~30Mbs Down, 3-4Mbs Up with 2 Bars. Wasn't fast enough for me.

Using my iPhone as a hotspot on 5G T-Mobile w/ 4 Bars
Non-Peak: 303Mbs Down, 33Mbs Up.
Peak: 250Mbs Down, 29Mbs Up

Using this T-mobile Home internet for the past 3 months, as you can see from the attached screenshot, we moved a lot of data. I found one spot near the window and I'm getting 4 out of 5 bars and my speed range from 15-30MB upload using wifi. Its reality stable connection ( 33062 zip ) with our 2 Chromecast TVs, Google home mini, Chromecast Audio, 2 laptops, Switch and 2-3 phones constantly connected. I'm doing 2-3 reboots just in case every month. If you login into the 192.168.1.1 admin menu, you have few expert options and I don't see any problem connecting the regular Wi-Fi router and running everything thru it.

The new devices shipped out by T-mobile (the cylindrical grey ones) do not let you access "advanced" settings as of right now. Only WiFi name/password can be changed. They need to fix this.

Out of all the cable companies, i've found Spectrum to be not all that bad. The speeds stay near what i'm paying for most of the time, i've experienced few network drops, and their cell phone plan is great since it uses Verizon.
Better than other came companies is a really low bar. Spectrum has raised my price every year. This year it went up to $75 for 200mbs down and 10 up which is 166% the lettuce I started at. I had to spend 45 minutes on the phone with 4 different departments to convince them to give me a promo to $60 again. Sand they still made me pay a month at $75.
This service would be about the same price with a higher upload and slower download. I'd be happy if they don't jack up the price every year.
Does the modem / router have wired ports to connect to your own access point? I see that you cannot disable it's routing function. Can you at least forward ports?

There's an easy way to get this if it's not officially in your area...they will ship it anywhere provided you give an address where the service is available.

Anyone complaining about speeds isn't their target audience (yet). Where I live my option is...nothing for now. Not even DSL. This for $50 is a blessing. We get a steady ~120 down / 20 up and haven't ever been throttled. We've been using 2-3 TB a month with everyone working at home and the kids doing more gaming to be around their friends.

If you're unsure about the performance T-Mobile also does the test drive where they'll send a hotspot with 30 gb of data (all you have to provide is a shipping address) so you can get an idea of what you can expect.
