Don't buy high-capacity nimh batteries and don't buy anything but eneloops if longevity is your goal.
Project Farm did a couple of great, real-world comparisons. The Ikea Ladda 2450s came out awesome both in terms of raw capacity and self discharge. Duracell beat the Eneloops too. Plus, they both hold up excellent after repeated charge cycles.

wwhat about high capacity eneloop?
It's my understanding that the higher capacity Eneloops (Eneloop Pro) work just fine, except with regard to their Low Self Discharge capabilities. Regular white Eneloops outperform them in this regard, as I understand it.

So, regular Eneloops will end up lasting longer in your remote controls and other low-drain applications, because the Pro batteries self discharge at a faster rate just sitting in a device unused. That aspect has prevented me from buying the Eneloop Pro batteries so far, so I can't confirm this information from personal experience.

I don't think you can go up to 2800mAh in NiMh, unless this battery size is bigger..
How do AA lithium rechargeables compare?

IIRC the Duracells he tested were made in Japan, but it seems they have started selling cells made in China now. I am pretty skeptical that those China made cells; I really doubt they will be as good. Energizer tried having their cells made in China and it didn't go well. They are now having them made in Japan again so that should tell people something!

These rechargeables don't work in nose trimmers like Wahl. You need lithium batteries for them.

Second this. Bought lots of duracells, they don't last over the long term and none of mine have been made in Japan. Tha Ladda 2450 are said to be made in the same factory that makes the Eneloops. The Ladda simply cannot be beaten for capacity and durability at their everyday available price. In AAs, I don't buy anything else now. I have been using dozens of brands of NiMH cells for the last 18 years. I have 10 year old Eneloops that still test well on smart chargers....pretty amazing. All China made cells I have are crapped out after a few years or less. Ikea engineers probably used Eneloops at home, so they had a great cell private labeled for them and made them affordable to the masses. Honestly, one of the best products they've released!

Most rechargable AA and AAA are. What's you're point? Is it about being 1.2v instead of the usual 1.5? I've been using nothing but rechargables in our house for the past few years with no adverse reactions.

Pretty good deal, thanks OP. I am not going to IKEA anytime soon, so this is good enough for me.

I cannot recommend these. I had a problem with half of the batteries. The Panasonic charger will trigger a fail status while charging these batteries. Don't waste your money.

There is currently only one factory in Japan that makes NiMH batteries. At the moment I know Eneloop, Ikea, Fujitsu, and Energizer batteries are all made in Japan (seemingly all at that same factory).
