People see "Core i7" for a certain price and assume it's a good deal. It's not, because it's a last-gen processor. The newer Tiger Lake processors are significantly faster. And in general it's rarely worth paying extra for a Core i7, it's at most 5-10% faster than the Core i5 in the same series, and that's just not noticeable in actual use.

I would get this same design with the Tiger Lake Core i5 instead: https://www.dell.com/en-us/member...25406ejuhh

That has 4GB less RAM, but you get a free SODIMM slot so upgrading is cheap and easy. Use a Capital One Spring coupon (https://spring.capitalone.com/dea...PRO_DELL_1) and that comes to ~$550.

That Tiger Lake Core i5 is actually a slightly faster CPU and has faster Xe (vs Iris) graphics than the Ice Lake Core i7 in this deal:

Sweet spot on screen size -- not a little small like 13.3" and not large like 15.6". What's the weight on this?

Thanks for posting. This looked like it might be the one but I chatted with Dell and they said screen is 220 Nits and weight is 3.79 lbs. Too low in NITs and too heavy for me .RAM is upgradable but not by Dell

Last-gen CPU that runs overly hot in this chasis and is a huge battery drainer. You will get boost clock for a few minutes then it downclocks to prevent the laptop from melting. Also screen is 220 nits and low gamut. This is basically a chromebook and at this price its too much to pay for these specs.

Yes, I replaced the 4gb with 8gb to have a full 16.

This laptop is legit. Most importantly is that this is the 28w version of the 1165G7. I can do some light gaming (Borderlands 2 1080/900p 40-60 fps, Xbox Game Pass games run very smooth) somewhere in the neighborhood of AMD 4500/4700u Ryzen gaming performance depending on the game.

It has USB C power delivery charging. My only gripe is that it seems that Thunderbolt is detected but doesn't seem to be enabled by Dell.

Love this thing, it's my daily driver.
This is a 1065G7, not an 1165G7.
