While checking my Fi account, noticed upgrade offer for Samsung A71 5G for $299 and for new customer with port in $199 with 90 days service.
A71 MSRP - $599
Promo details:
New customers get $400 off Samsung Galaxy A71 when you buy and activate on Google Fi. Existing customers can upgrade and receive $300 off.
Trade in will reduce this price much lower. I tried with iPhone 8 which shows estimated value as $100. For new port in, final price will be $99 with trade in iPhone8.

What I did for Pixel 4a 5G - Ported in my unused number and placed it in drawer without any data usage. Every month $20 for talk and message. Also you get $20 ref which will be good for 2nd month or 3rd month. Again $20 credit apply for 2nd or 3rd month is high YMMV

You activated the phone on Fi, pulled the SIM and stuck it in a drawer?
What then, did you remove the Fi app or factory reset the phone before you put your "normal" SIM in it?
Have you cleared the 90 days yet without a charge back?
The phone prices are good, but I plan to port out after I fulfill the discount obligation. US Mobile's recent sale, T-Mobile Connect, or something else low cost without extended prepaying/commitment. Don't need much data currently and like to have the freedom to move my number fwiw.
