Is it worth it to upgrade from the S20 FE? to the S21? on the fence, could use the 100 device credit as I want the new earbudfs- looks like 225 or so to do it with trade, need to factor in the edu discount so will be a little less-

I watched 3 different reviews on YouTube and all of them say pretty average battery life on S21. I might cancel my order and stick to my S20 FE.

You will be disappointed at the S21 size when compared to S20 FE. I own S20 FE and like the bigger size. Performance wise you will not notice much of a difference. Also, they both have the same screen resolution and display frequency (120Hz). Be happy with your S20 FE and wait for S22.

That's a bummer. Always with the 1 step forward and two steps back with Samsung. I was almost certain Samsung was going to continue with the bigger battery after the FE got a 4500MaH battery.

Anyways, for those interested in the PAW points, here is mine:

I ordered on the 18th.

Never said I was trading in a leased phone.
Sorry, thought you were. BTW, anyone that has bill credits on a phone from TMO CAN trade it in. The credits are on the line, not the phone.

S20 FE is a bigger phone 6.5" display vs 6.2" on regular S21/S20, it sits between the regular and the plus models and thus has more physical room for a larger battery than the regular size.

No worries. And same is true for Verizon, bill credits are tied to the line, not the phone.

So I currently have an S20 but am interested in taking advantage of the promotions to upgrade to an S21U. I can do without the microSD slot and rarely ever use Samsung Pay (MFT). I'm trying to see how cheap I could get the upgrade, can anyone let me know if I am missing anything here:

S21U (ATT 128GB) = $399.99 (after trade-in)
Tab S7 (128 GB) = $134.99 (after $250 pre-order credit)
Sub-total = $534.98
Total After Tax = $644.67 (stupid CA taxes)

The Tab S7 could possibly resell for $400+. Likewise, there is 10% CB through a site floating around. So, after those considerations, possibly seeing out the door upgrade cost being $176. Any other potential discounts I should look into?
Why your Tab S7 is $134.99. My S7 is only $169.49 (after $150 credit).

I have my doubt but trying to dig through more reviews to see if others have mentioned battery life issue and so far I've not found another one to mention it.
The review you mentioned is pretty technical so it'll be more accurate and not subjective like other reviews.

Here is one that is not technical but it states that the phone will last a day but not if there is heavy usage:

https://www.techradar.com/reviews...s21-review

But this review is for the Exynos 2100 version of the S21 used outside the US, NOT Qualcomm's Snapdragon 888 used in the US that runs on the hot side.

Perhaps Samsung will issue a software/hardware update that will help the battery life of the S21 5G, like lowering the phone's display rate closer to 10 like the S21 5G Ultra, maybe to 15-30 from the current 48.

But it looks like Samsung should have used a 4200-4500mah battery like the S20 FE for this new S21 5G phone.

If I werent getting the phone for essentially free after credits, trade in, CB, etc I wouldnt be getting one, especially after the reviews. Going from an S20 to S21U and it really doesnt seem like its much better.

888 thermal throttles in testing with heavy use. Cameras are good but more of a refinement then an improvement. Loss of microsd and MST. Battery life doesnt seem to have improved, except Exynos. No amazing new technology.

Not trying to be a debbie downer but this launch is pretty disappointing, probably why they doing such large trade-in values for older phones and large accessory credits. I hope its better than I expect but my expectations are kind low at this point.

You're probably right and as I said in my other post above:

"So, it seems that Samsung knows about this problem and it is trying to dump the S21 phones on the market BEFORE these issues spread far and wide with upcoming bad reviews.

And that looks like the reason for these deep "pre-release" discounts offered by Samsung here.

If this issue remains, the S21's resale value later on will get a big hit."

Maybe Samsung should include a small free power brick in the box.

Samsung always has deep discounts for all their flagships. They can't sell themselves like iPhones.

Well, In that case getting S21 Normal would be a better option if you are trading a S20.
Reason, you'll get it for free (with $150 accessories credit). This will serve you better for the next trade in. Obviously s21 will have better trade in value than s20 for next releases. Thoughts??

Exactly, for S20 launch they offered $600 for S10. Only difference is last year's phone price was staggeringly high. May be thats why they are offering better trade in price.

Apple is definitely a better product, but unfortunately for a lot of people they get an iphone because they have to get an iphone (the logo in the back matters).
