To answer some of the many questions about the low trade-in value shown. I have done this sorts of trade-in with T-Mobile before, It's a 2 part deal, It doesn't show the full $800 amount, THAT'S NORMAL.

PART 1.The official trade-in value you see during the process is less than the $800 offer, because that's the trade-in value that Assurant (the phone goes to them not directly to T-Mobile,) pays for said phone. The Trade-In "agreement" is for the Assurant value amount.

PART 2. Once Assurant has received, assessed and accepted the trade-in, T-Mobile adds the difference in the form of bill credits to total the amount of the Promo.
So it shows Trade-In value $80, yes, that's what Assurant will be paying for the phone. T-Mobile will add $720 to that and spread it all out in credits for a 24 months term. A couple of days after submitting the trade-in, your account should show the promo in the EIP section. The promo name will be shown there and "Pending Trade-In".

Voila.

Awesome deal for my S9. Wonder if Costco comes up with rebate deal instead of this EIP deal. Prefer outright deal.

I've been with T-Mobile for multiple years and have done numerous promotions that revolve around bill credits. Doesn't bother me at all. I don't plan to leave TMO anytime soon since they give me the most bang for my buck in terms of service.
Yeah, the T-mobile "lifers" already know the drill. I was speaking more to the other crowd.

Exactly. I have 7 lines all unlimited with $10 kickback, 20% loyalty, One Promo Plus plan and pay around $120 a month with taxes. Can't beat that.

I'm having a Galaxy Note 8 and looks like $400 is the highest I've seen in the last year. Is this the best promo to trade-in and buy a new one? I see many people waiting for Costco offers. Will Costco generally give better offers?
Costco usually give you a credit/debit card as a rebate not monthly bill credit. Some time Costco is $50 cheaper than Tmobile. There is no $20 fee from Costco, while you will be charge $20 if you get it from Tmobile store or through phone.

Any idea if this trade in would accept broken screen phone that is part of the trade in list?
Absolutely not, it will get rejected and you will never see the phone again once it's received. You are better off trading in directly to samsung as they accept broken screen phones.

Question, my iphone has scratch on the screen, not crack. Will I still get $800 credit?

Depend on how deep is the scratch. I got rejected once on a phone that has a deep scratch. To be safe, I would bring the phone to Tmobile store to do the trade-in.

if you have any doubts on it, best to bring them into a t-mobile store instead of mailing it. that way, once the store accepts it you are good to go

So on T-Mobile website. Under the deals tab, you go to Samsung. It does show you will get $100/$200 credit depending on the S21 model you get. To redeem from the shop app from Samsung. T-Mobile is offering better trade in values especially for someone trading in a pixel or somewhat older iPhone. A certain amount is applied and the rest is applied as bill credit. If you plan to stay with T-Mobile and haven't moved. The 24 months honestly should be a no brainer.

Exactly. If you have an older iPhone or Pixel Phone it's best to trade in via TMO than go the Samsung Direct route. I feel like people get all excited when they see Samsung is giving them credits to buy accessories.

Exactly. I've 14 years in with T-Mobile and no one else is going to touch the price/service that I'm getting from them. Bill credits aren't a negative incentive to me in any way.

That said, I'm still going to wait a bit and see what Costco comes up with. The problem with Costco, for me, is that I may prefer the S21 with 256GB and I bet that's not something they'll stock in stores.

Galaxy S9 series or S10 series, which exact models? S9 or S10e are quite cheap on eBay.

In the mean time, my current S10 only get $197 credit. So no go
The rest of the credit come in the form of monthly credits for 24 months. The $124 is for the instant credit.
