Warning for those interested in the S21. It's one of the biggest downgrades in history of Samsung phones. I would imagine the profit margins are huge even after discounts.

* Glass to plastic.
* No more SD card support.
* No more headphone jack.
* No more MST support for Samsung Pay... literally the only feature that set it apart from Google Pay and Apple Pay is gone.
* Box doesn't include headphones anymore.
* Box doesn't include charger anymore.
* Display downgraded from 1440p to 1080p. (not a big deal, but for $800?)
* Screens are now flat. (which is a good thing, but cost savings weren't passed onto consumer)
then, except for wireless charging, what the difference between this and A71 %G?

One of the biggest: solid water and dust resistance. The A71 is not rated for being waterproof at all; a deal killer for me.

The Samsung deal is inferior to this deal if you plan to use TMobile for 2 years.

Absolutely obnoxious how no one reads - but is so willing to post here.

Click the link to go to TMobile, then click the link that says -->

"See how to get one FREE when you buy 2 or trade in an eligible device."

Scroll half way down, next to #3, and READ the following:

"Receive a one-time bill credit based on your trade-in value, and the balance of the offer via 24 monthly bill credits."

Alternatively, READ the OP or any of the dozens of comments from others explaining this.

Samsung has been killing off MST for quite some time. This just makes it official:

Admittedly, I haven't read through the whole thread. Is the S9 the cheapest phone to buy that would be eligible for the full $800 trade in value?

TIA

It's not that no one reads, I read that point 3 too. But do you think they should at least mention that again once your run the trade in? There is never a mention again about it. The final confirmation just says, you will get $80, (for S9) that's it. Why don't they show, $80 and the rest $720 in bill credits over 24mo on the final step of the process before your press the submit button?

Although the other downgrades certainly hurt it, the lack of SD card kills it for me. They did the same with the S6 which is why I skipped it but reversed course and added it back the following year.

I hope they end up reversing course or at this price point I'll have to look beyond galaxy with either SD card support or lower price like the pixel.

The s21 is $200 less than the s20, so yes, they did pass the cost savings to the consumer.

Yes. Although, some may be disappointed when their "fair condition" scratched handsets they got for sub-$200 get rejected or do not get the full trade-in amount. I've got a "good" condition $210 unit on the way from Swappa with very little wear.

While I wouldn't pay $800 for this phone, $228 (Swappa with tax) + tax charged on the new S21 is a steal.

How does the trade in work? They mail you a box with prepaid mailing label to ship the phone in? I want to avoid having to go in-stores to do it.

Like someone else shared earlier, take a screenshot if you're paranoid. Like multiple people have mentioned - this is how T-Mobile has structured trade-in offers for quite some time now.

...and it's absolutely about how no one reads. There's some great info on here, from what we might also be eligible for, such as Samsung credit to deficiencies of the S21 and S21+.

There's been confirmation of eligibility of plans (e.g. Military vs Walmart) and feedback from Costco (speculative).

Problem is you have to scroll past numerous posts of people ignorantly whining about an incorrect perception of their trade-in value of their phone - because they didn't take time to READ. Not to mention having to scroll past posts like this too (though perhaps my summary provides some benefit).
