This is the first time using Metro and I have a question about selling the phone. Can I simply take my sim out of the phone and sell it or do I have to do something online prior?

I don't want the phone to be linked to my account causing issues with them activating the phone.
phone is married to the sim. you need to use another phone to replace the N10 by calling Metro. Sometime you might able to do this yourself. There's a fee for doing this if you call. You can ask them to waive it if you're lucky.

That was my concern and figured it might be the case. Can I do it online to avoid the fee? I have an unlocked iPhone 11. Maybe that will work in its place.

We need to use preinstalled Unlock app on the device to unlock. With drawer trick, you need to open the box for unlock.
What I meant is not use it in the network, open after 180d install the unlock app and unlock it

Got your point but no one reported this use case.

Does phone "un-marry" from sim if you let service lapse?

SIM attach to the phone Imei, not the other way around. If the phone is unlock now, you can use any SIM in it.

I should have been more clear. I did the 4for 100 deal with Moto Stylus and Samsung A21 phones. Paid for first month but nothing after that, so no service now. Been sitting in drawer. I know the phones are not unlocked (takes 6 months), but was wondering if I could just sell as Metro phones, and whether buyer could activate with their Metro sim, without me having to do anything.

Desi you covered all steps with timeline.

One more tip- if anyone wants to sell the device to metro customer on first day, they can swap the sim from new device to metro compatible device. Second option- The number can be port out from metro to other carrier which will release the IMEI from your account which will help to sell the device to metro customers.

Between day 31 and 61 can I port out the phone number (not worried about unlocking or selling N10) or is it non-portable during the 'suspended' period? Ideally I would like to port out after my 30 days of paid service but before day 61 when number is released.
