Boss Audio BE10ACP Car Stereo -Android CarPlay Digital Multimedia Receiver - $229 at Autozone B&M only, $329 everywhere else

Link for reference only. B&M only, Autozone web guys couldn't find it when I called but it was sitting on the shelf at the local store. Appears to be their regular price, not sure why they're $100 cheaper than any other seller. Maybe even cheaper with a coupon.

Boss Audio BE10ACP Digital Multimedia Receiver with (wired) Android Auto and CarPlay, 10.1" capacitive touchscreen, rear and front camera inputs, USB charging, removable and adjustable screen, external mic, etc.

Yeah, I know, Boss audio isn't known for high quality but for $250 out the door at your local Autozone, you're getting a LOT of bang for not much buck. I looked around and the closest big name that compares feature to feature is an Alpine unit that is $999. I've had it in my car for a few days and I'm very happy with it. So much so that I bought a second one for my wife's car. When I bought the second one, I mentioned that I was trying to buy it online as there was a discount available but it shows as in store only. The guy at the store gave me a 10% discount. YMMV.
Waiting on the install kit to be delivered so I can install hers. Single DIN so if you have double din like our cars, you'll need a kit with some kind of space filler. Crutchfield said it doesn't "fit" my car as but it went in using the same single DIN kit I got from them for the JVC (No screen or carplay and the Bluetooth was going out) I replaced with this one.
Crutchfield, Amazon, etc. all have this unit for $329. Good reviews at that price. For $100 less than that I imagine the reviews would be even better.
Unit comes with 3 year warranty from Boss. Autozone also gives a 1 year in store repair/replacement warranty with this unit. Details on your receipt.

Anyone know what version of android this is?
This isn't an android head unit. Don't think it has much of an OS at all, it's basically just a slave for a phone connected via USB for phone calls, music, and nav (either Android or Apple phone). It does have the ability to play media off a flash drive but it's rather slow and clunky so I really wouldn't bother with that unless you really want to watch movies on it (don't think there's a way via Android auto or car play to do that). What this does have is a really nice large capacitive touch screen good for navigation and backup camera usage (usually not found on cheaper head units like this), Apple carplay and Android auto, and good call quality. Some audio function bells and whistles are missing but it's very liveable. It's a good deal if you can get it at this price.

Thanks OP -- snagged one of these at my local autozone (no 10% discount, but at least I was able to use a $10 off coupon). The size of the screen is ridiculous for the car I'm putting it in, but this is a great touch screen solution for cars that are limited to Single DIN.

Anyone have trouble getting this thing to power up? Trying to put it into my wife's 2010 Kia Forte, but I'm getting nothing when I turn on the car. No screen, no lights. It's probably something to do with my wiring, but I'm running out of ideas.

Did any of you receive the newer version? An Amazon reviewer said there is a newer version where they've done away with the flimsy ribbon cable attachment.

Could be a few things but I would just recheck the main wiring. The wire you connected the yellow on the stereo should be constant hot (even when car is off) and the red should be connected to a switched wire with the ignition or accessory. To work on this sort of stuff you need a little test light bare minimum. And also verify that the ground is good (so test those wires to the black wire). How did you connect everything and did you get a wiring harness adapter? And did you plug the screen into that little ribbon connector?

Reporting back on the USB cigarette extension.. no problems with iphone/carplay. I used this one: https://www.amazon.com/ICESPRING-...B01MY1WDIU

Also, can confirm the screen connector is very brittle/fragile. I cracked some of the surrounding plastic on the female end reinstalling it. Still working fine.

For anyone wondering this HU will work with a PAC RP4 HD-11 for steering wheel controls.

As I mentioned in the previous page, the Axxess ASWC-1 worked beautifully (plug in and play - no programming or resistors needed) and it's cheaper than that PAC one (think it's was around $53 on Amazon).

Ryan, did you figure out the night time illumination brightness problem? Day and night brightness setting seems the same to me, lol

I already had a PAC and was simply sharing that it worked.

Like ManFromEast mentions in post 73 on the previous page, the nightime setting is a little less bright at level one that the daytime one is. And you can lower the gamma for the night time setting as well which helps a little. If it's still too bright then you can have just the date and time displayed which I think I may have also mentioned (with hands free selected, just click on the upper right corner at the time, well that worked with an android anyway). It's definitely a bug of some sort, but I guess we have to live with it because there doesn't seem to be any firmware fixes for any of their previous units that I can tell. The root problem seems to also be that the display doesn't dim enough anyway, but that could be a hardware limitation so a firmware fix may not even cure the too bright at night issue. I guess if it's too unbearable for some people they could put a piece of window tint or something over the screen LOL. Seems like there's two different camps on the issue; some are bothered by it and others aren't. May be the difference in the type of driving (I do mostly rural driving in the dark - dark when I leave for work for the whole ride and sometimes dark for the ride home too). Anywho, a thought also occurred to me that the layout of the vehicle plays a big part also. I could see this being a non-issue in vehicles which have their headunit displays lower in the dash or further away (maybe like in some larger vehicles such as vans), but with mine it ends up being right below the windshield in my line of sight.

Doubt that they're going to have the newest version sitting on the dusty shelves of Autozone LOL. Maybe in a couple of months time. They'll probably correct the price by then though.

No problem, just mentioning that one which costs about half works too. Didn't have to do anything with it, the vol+/-, channel/skip forward/back, and mode that are on the steering wheel work as they should. The ASWC-1 has some programming capabilities too, but looks like it may be a bit of a PITA when I was looking at the directions. Think you have to program all the buttons even if you just want to reprogram one. For example, I may re-assign the mode button to listen instead (for hands free commands) since I rarely ever switch sources. If I ever take things apart again I may look into it (believe you kind of have to look at the light flashes on the adapter to confirm things). Mentioned it before but I honestly thought that needing an adapter for steering wheel controls was a thing of the past - I knew that you needed these interfaces 10 years back when you wanted to keep factory SWCs but I thought that most head units had button programming built in now where you just assign button presses to functions in the menu. My cheap ass Kenwood had it and I've seen other cheaper head units with that capability too. Researching this stuff a couple of weeks back and it seems like you still need this adapters for Pioneers and Alpines too. Just so nobody thinks that I'm imagining things, here's a link [bossaudio.com] to the BN965BLC which retails less than this one and has instructions for programming SWC functions on page 14.
