Tekton was the first set I bought to go with my M12 Fuel Stubby. It's okay, but not great, I've since bought a set from Sunex, Gearwrench and Wera, and would take any of those over my Tekton. The tekton's have a tendency to slip off, and don't quite grip the bolt like the others do, Sunex and Wera especially.

Wera's obviously going to be the priciest, about $100 for a 9 piece metric 1/2 set, but it is really nicehttps://www.kctoolco.com/wera-004...-9-pieces/

Can get a 1/2" 14 piece metric set by Sunex, 10mm-27mm, for only $33, so not really any more expensive than Tekton, but definitely a step up in quality- https://www.homedepot.com/p/SUNEX-TOOLS-Socket-Set-Impact-1-2-in-Drive-Standard-Metric-14-Piece-SUN2... [homedepot.com]

HD also has a 12 piece Gearwrench set in metric or SAE for about $35, but only goes up to 19mm, and isn't really any better than the $33 Sunex, so personally, I'd take the $33 set if I needed one. Just my 2 cents
That Sunex set for $33 is a good deal for a starter set. It's good Sunex uses Cr-Mo steel for all their impact sockets vs Tekton uses Cr-V and Cr-Mo for the larger sizes and adapters. One thing I like about the Tekton sockets is they only sell complete sets that don't skip sizes. The fluted design on the smaller sockets of the Tekton sets will also fit in more places than the tapered design on the Sunex.

Why? Won't a simple $2 adapter make it whatever size u want? 1/4, 3/8, etc
Because I already have the big 1/2 impact and don't like using adapters when they make a tool that doesn't need one....good enough answer for youWave

Since you already have that, yeah, probably don't need it. But, that being said, when it comes to impact guns, Milwaukee is doing it better than anything else I've tried right now. I actually bought that exact same Dewalt, returned it in a week. Much heavier and bulkier than the stubby, and the extra torque is not needed for 95% of jobs, depending on your specialty. For that 5% I bought the m18 3/4" fuel impact- kills the DCF899 in power, about the same size.

For something that could go head to head with the DCF899 in terms of similar torque and features, the M18 FUEL Gen-2 mid-torque 1/2 impact driver would be an easy choice if I had need for another. Far more compact, lighter, similar power and a lot less expensive. But not something you'd sell what you already have to buy obviously, this is intended for people who are in the market for the best available at the moment.

Not to get into the whole tool argument but the issue is people don't understand the use case for tools and that's why they say stuff like "you'll be disappointed", "I have an 899 and don't need this".

They see the 899 on sale with charger and a 5ah battery for $199 and so this to them doesn't make sense.

For us we use the 899 for trailer tires and axles, it's never let us down, and we have no space issues. But I clearly recall when we needed a good hammer drill for concrete drilling. They got an awesome deal on the biggest one made by DeWalt. It was better than anything we needed but the deal was too good to pass up. When it arrived and it was put into service it didn't fit in 90% of the places we needed to use it. But it was an excellent deal, so they kept it. They then spent an extra $200 or so for the smaller one that fit in the other 90% of places we needed it.

As this site is mostly "deals" and "bang for the buck" people can't always get why you'd spend more for what they perceive as less. The tool manufacturers get it which is why they make so many different sizes and voltages of just a single tool like an impact wrench.

If ya got the cash and thats your preference then yeah. Still an awkwardly aggressive response to a honest question.

I got two XC 3AH batts for under sixty on Ebay but that deal is gone. You can get chargers for 15 to 20 bucks https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Genu...Swg5tc9uGc

Here are two for 69 bucks. https://www.ebay.com/itm/MILWAUKE...C-High-Cap

I see a 4AH batt for fifty. OR, if you wanted, you can try the generic versions much cheaper, but I cannot attest to their quality.

Only buy from high volume and high rated vendors on Ebay but otherwise you can get some deals there...
second link is bad

yep be very careful on Ebay buying batteries, lotsa fakes other there.

It's back in stock. Finally placed an order with 15% moving coupon. I already have the 1/2 high torque M18, but this Stubby is much lighter and smaller. Hope it meet my expectations from all the good reviews
