Apple iPhone XS models (including large capacities and Max variants) are all $199 in-store at Walmart as of this weekend. Definitely a YMMV since these are not showing up in online inventories.

NOTE: Brickseek is showing "NO RESULTS" and Walmart.com is saying "Out of stock" for all SKUs (I checked them all). However, all 4 of the stores I checked in-person did have inventory. This seems very unusual, but I purchased a 256GB XS Max for $199 this afternoon at a store in my area so there are some models out there.

Walmart listing (shows no inventory; see note above) https://www.walmart.com/ip/Apple-.../109707311

No contract/commitment required, but I believe these are only setup to work only with AT&T. I have AT&T so I haven't explored this further.

Clarification: No AT&T account info was needed to checkout. I just asked for the phone at the electronics counter, paid the total, and walked out. I charged the phone, swapped the SIM from my existing phone, and was up and running.

I reserved online, came to store, but no one has any idea of what I'm talking about. The electronics people told me it has to be through the mobile people, and they are only here 8am to 4pm (my work hours). I asked about warp and they had no idea, I asked if they sell phones without contract and was told no. I asked to speak to a manager (asst.) And she said the same. I'm not sure how people are getting this deal. Tried 2 stores so far, same result. Neither one will even touch the phones .. showed them the reservation as well, and they said they dont know how to do that.
You have to deal with the wireless (OSL) people. The regular Walmart employees at the Electronics dept have no clue what to do. I faced a similar problem. I had to wait for 2 hours at wireless counter for the wireless dude who comes in at 11am. When he came in he promptly proceeded to confirm my reservation and checked 4 phones through the WARP system. Everything seems so easy for him meanwhile the regular Walmart employees were looking at me like I was speaking gibberish. In fact, one told me to go the pickup booth upfront to get my phones!

Walmart is probably one of the most difficult places try to get to employees to event attempt doing their job. Probably 2 out of 10 stores will actually try to help you look for it.

Sounds like a case of the Walmart employees stockpiling for themselves!
Atleast the two I tried the electronics dept workers both had told me the same thing, they can only sell the prepaid phones, the contract phones are done by 3rd party services. Which would explain why the manager on duty didn't really care as soon as they realized it was for a contract phone 🤷🏼 ♂️

No. Actually found a few in stock, made reservations, and they flat out refused to sell them to me. It was the T-ROC employees that refused. I asked for a manager first, and the employee called one on FaceTime so I could 'talk in person'. laugh out loud I asked them to just scan the phones to see what would happen, and the FaceTime mgr had the other employee fiddle with a tablet away from my view, where she pulled up a $499 price. After 20 minutes I finally admitted defeat. I've always had a tough time finding any posted Walmart deals in our area.

You absolutely DO NOT have to sign up for a plan.
The manager DID NOT lock out the device only option.
There is NO LIMIT on quantity that is officially set and the system does not limit, other than two WARP phones per transaction. You can purchase those 2x barcodes from WARP all on one checkout transaction at the actual register if you want.
Some employees can and will do the WARP process, many stores are removing the third party companies.

My experience
Store 1: 2x XS Max 64GB open box, but new and plastic on phones, unactivated. OSL employee processed with WARP as new customer, Verizon, Device only

Store 2: 3x new XS Max 64GB, sealed. Electronics employee processed reservation via WARP same as above.
Store 3: 4x new XS Max 64GB + 2x XS 256GB, sealed. Electronics employee same as above.

*Store 2 had trouble around lunch time because their terminal was hanging and flickering. They took my info, said the phones were set back not for sale and they would call me when the system was back online. They actually called me while I was at store 3 a few hours later to let me know I could come purchase, which I did.

As you can see, there are no official limits per customer in the system and I purchased no plans or lines. Yes, I have 11 phones, but I did quite a bit of legwork to figure it all out along with help from this thread. Some will be used to subsidize the rest, but family will be getting upgrades as well.

I lucked into some really good and willing to try/helpful employees at two of the stores, which is definitely a rarity. I was calm, friendly and confident that I knew what the process was.

On sickw, did your 256 Max actually say "under flex reseller policy", or it says "locked"? Mine shows "locked" on sickw. Just wanted to know if that means under flex reseller policy. Thanks.
What is sickw ?
How do I check my phone's lock or unlock status- I haven't inserted any SIM
