Apple iPhone XS models (including large capacities and Max variants) are all $199 in-store at Walmart as of this weekend. Definitely a YMMV since these are not showing up in online inventories.

NOTE: Brickseek is showing "NO RESULTS" and Walmart.com is saying "Out of stock" for all SKUs (I checked them all). However, all 4 of the stores I checked in-person did have inventory. This seems very unusual, but I purchased a 256GB XS Max for $199 this afternoon at a store in my area so there are some models out there.

Walmart listing (shows no inventory; see note above) https://www.walmart.com/ip/Apple-.../109707311

No contract/commitment required, but I believe these are only setup to work only with AT&T. I have AT&T so I haven't explored this further.

Clarification: No AT&T account info was needed to checkout. I just asked for the phone at the electronics counter, paid the total, and walked out. I charged the phone, swapped the SIM from my existing phone, and was up and running.

How do I send a complaint? I have a reservation, tried 2 days in a row and none of the associates will sell me a phone, says it has to be a TROC employee, who is never there...spoken to managers both times.

Well if you took that call and didn't know that a $1000 phone was now $100-200 and weren't an upright company puppet would you a) be completely honest with people now that you have that information or b) use that information and your ability to gate keep that product to your advantage?

Rule 1- Never call. Why? Because 1. Employees will jump at the opportunity and set aside all stock before any customer can get it. Ruins the deal for everyone else.

I know. what I mean is it's not showing up for people to reserve it before they going to the store. I am hour and half drive away. I don't want waste time to go there and being told it just sold to someone else.
yeah, well, there is a chance you may or may not get it...
i went to the local (45 mins away) walmart and praying there is one left, it turns out that the associates there dont even know about them. I just ask if they have the phone, they do and then i ask for price. it's the 199, so i said i'd like to buy them without contact. They said sure. and ask me how many i want...so it's a crap shot....
good luck !!

So I am curious. Would I be able to use this on tmobile? From what I read in the pinned post it seems as if tmobile is no go. Can someone please confirm? Appreciate it!
Have one phone running on T-Mobile for 2 days now, other on Verizon.

Hahaha never call the store 🤣 it just alerts the employees to keep the deal for themselves or lie.

Some Max are flex policy. I have one Max unlocked and the other flex policy.
Yes, you're right. According to SICKW of the two 256GB Max I got one is flex policy and my wife is using it on T-Mobile and now it says it's locked to T-Mobile/Sprint, that sucks. T-Mobile will unlock it though, might have to wait for 40 days usage but I'm going to call them to see if they'll do it. The other one I got says it's fully unlocked. I just checked the two my sister-law got and one is flex and the other is unlocked, both are 64GB, weird how it depends on what you get. So I assume flex policy means whatever SIM you put in it first locks it to that carrier?

So what's the general consensus on reservations....I made one last night, is it worth driving a half hour to see if they actually have it? Does the reservation actually save it?

It is a Walmart employee perk to be able to grab all the clearance stock.. Nothing wrong with it.. Everyone would do it at our companies... I mean you are paying for it.
I avoid this Walmart deals... It is a waste of time (have done like 3, 0 success)

from reading through the vast majority of this thread, it's hit or miss, every walmart/associates will be different, only one way to find out.
