Microsoft has recently announced that the price of Xbox Live Gold is going up. The $60 1 year membership will now be $60 for a 6 month membership. If you are subscribed at the current rate they will honor a renew at your old price.
Retailers are now carrying the new $60 6 month cards. You can get ahead by stocking up on the old cards at their original price points being the price hike. This will make the gamepass trick more expensive too at the new price points, so now is the time.
I've provided a few good prices below. Take advantage while you can.

The Game Pass members were playing Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption 2 early last year, and then you can even get The Witcher 3 and Doom Eternal there right now. And I didn't have to search that or post that on some artificial list of games that I'm not interested in. These are games people actually want to play

For what it's worth, I am a lifelong PlayStation owner and have never owned an Xbox... until now. I bought both this time around because of Game Pass. I play both consoles equally and enjoy both equally. They both bring something different to the table, and I love them both.
I'm too old and too cynical to be a fanboy and pick a "team" — whether it's on a console or on an ballot. I judge everything based solely on merit, and if you're basing your next gen console purchase on a monthly subscription service that only gives you a couple of free games a month and grants you online play, I think they're doing it wrong.
I'll still use my PS4 from time to time to play some exclusives like Dreams and Horizon: Zero Dawn, but once I've had my fill of them I'll go back to Xbox One to play most multiplatform games. I haven't been able to snag either next gen console, but at this point I'm not even very sure that I'll be picking up a PS5 at all, or maybe I'll wait a few years down the line just to play a few exclusives. Game Pass is really that much of a game changer in terms of value.
