Microsoft has recently announced that the price of Xbox Live Gold is going up. The $60 1 year membership will now be $60 for a 6 month membership. If you are subscribed at the current rate they will honor a renew at your old price.

Retailers are now carrying the new $60 6 month cards. You can get ahead by stocking up on the old cards at their original price points being the price hike. This will make the gamepass trick more expensive too at the new price points, so now is the time.

I've provided a few good prices below. Take advantage while you can.

Costco: 2 years for $95.00

Target: 1 year for $59.99

Amazon: 1 year for $59.99

I have been with xbox for like 15+ years. If they raise to $120 per year...I might switch to PC gaming, this is F'ed up!!

Thanks xbox you just made my decision easier for next gen, now I'm going from xbox one to PS5.
Then how will you play online multiplayer with your Xbox games collection?

Also Sony needs money more than Microsoft does so it will not belong before Sony raises their PlayStation Plus subscription price.

I understand what your trying to say but at the same time I'm not going to give in to corporate greed especially when the free games suck vs PS members, they get good games like
* Worms Rumble
* Hollow Knight
* Middle Earth: Shadow of War
* Bugsnax
* Fall Guys
* Street Fighter V
* CoD: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered
* Rise of the Tomb Raider
* Shadow of the Tomb Raider
* Star Wars Battlefront 2
* NBA 2K20
* Uncharted 4
* Uncharted Nathan Drake Collection
* Journey
* Shadow of the Colossus
* Bioshock: The Collection
* Titanfall 2
* Nioh
* The Last of Us Remastered
* Detroit: Become Human
* Borderlands: The Handsome Collection
Even though this is a bad move by Microsoft, Game Pass still offers better value than all of those games that you listed which took years to be offered for free on the PS subscription.

The Game Pass members were playing Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption 2 early last year, and then you can even get The Witcher 3 and Doom Eternal there right now. And I didn't have to search that or post that on some artificial list of games that I'm not interested in. These are games people actually want to play

Yes, these are codes you enter into your account to get the 1yr. The codes don't expire AFAIK, so you can wait to enter them, the time doesn't start until you apply them to an account. You can enter up to 36 months worth of codes to 1 account, so the 2 one year codes you got him will give him 2yrs worth.
Thank you so much for explaining it to me!

Ok, so if you add any Gold time now it will be at a converted rate (see the wiki, I posted the conversion chart) - so you have 2 options, either buy Gold time now and it'll convert, or buy now and wait for your Ultimate sub to run out, stack Gold (up to 36 months) then re-upgrade.
Thanks for the info. My Gold expired in Oct 2020 so in Dec 2020 I did the $1 Ultimate for 3 months and it ends March 15th, 2021. I had no idea until now that if I add say the 2 year Costco Gold for $95 that it will convert it to Ultimate for less time than 2 years. I think I will get the Costco deal and once the Ultimate expires in March I'll just add 2 years of Gold, I haven't downloaded a single game on the Ultimate yet in over a month and I don't game that much anyway so just Gold is good for me.

If you don't have much time to game, I get it. I still prefer Ultimate because there have been a bunch of games on there I've wanted to try and did so for "free" instead of shelling out $60 to be disappointed by fake marketing hype. Looking forward to The Medium which Game Pass is getting Day 1 Smilie

if you have GPU, and want to stock up isnt it better to get EA play cards? Those seem to be $30 for 12 months and convert to 4 months of GPU, which seams better then buying live at $60 and getting 4 months?

I think you misinterpreted my comment, friend. I'm saying if you are using PS Plus or Xbox Live Gold as your determining factor for buying a PS5 or Xbox Series X, you're not looking at the equation right. Any owner of either console worth their salt is looking at these factors for each console:

PS5:
Controller
Spider-Man exclusives
PS Classic Collection

Xbox:
Halo exclusive (later this year)
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (including EA Play)

For what it's worth, I am a lifelong PlayStation owner and have never owned an Xbox... until now. I bought both this time around because of Game Pass. I play both consoles equally and enjoy both equally. They both bring something different to the table, and I love them both.

I'm too old and too cynical to be a fanboy and pick a "team" — whether it's on a console or on an ballot. I judge everything based solely on merit, and if you're basing your next gen console purchase on a monthly subscription service that only gives you a couple of free games a month and grants you online play, I think they're doing it wrong.
As someone who has owned both MS and Sony consoles every generation, I can honestly say exclusives are rarely a major factor for which console I eventually play more of. The choice used to almost always come down to which console had a better online experience, but ever since Game Pass became a thing, I have spent way more time with my Xbox One than my PS4 simply because of the huge library of games I have available.

I'll still use my PS4 from time to time to play some exclusives like Dreams and Horizon: Zero Dawn, but once I've had my fill of them I'll go back to Xbox One to play most multiplatform games. I haven't been able to snag either next gen console, but at this point I'm not even very sure that I'll be picking up a PS5 at all, or maybe I'll wait a few years down the line just to play a few exclusives. Game Pass is really that much of a game changer in terms of value.

My 24-month Costco order also was cancelled. I later tried to purchase the 12-month plan, which was also cancelled.

While there are lots of good PS exclusives actual good Xbox exclusives are few and far between these days. But yeah Game Pass makes Xbox so much more of a contender again. I used to just get one or the other console but now I'll probably get both.

It's funny, so many people last year were saying that gamepass was going to be free with the rollout of the series s and x. Where are all those people now?

Does the Brazil trick still work with CDKeys? Their prices are still decent.

Please for the love of God mass casual market, do not keep buying these once the price goes up, otherwise Sony and Nintendo both follow suit and console gaming is just done for me.
