Great deal on a mid-range gaming laptop! I got it for $622 with military pricing but students and teachers can benefit from a discount as well. However, the i5-9300h and 2060 combo is known to have some throttling issues so you may have to undervolt the cpu and apply a curve to the GPU to control the temps. Other than that, this is a pretty solid deal for a 2060 laptop.

I have the Gateway and it's a great deal when on sale. With that this Lenovo has a better screen but a LOWER refresh rate (which matters for gaming), 4GB more memory and 250GB larger SSD. The different CPU installed gives the Gateway a slight bump but they are pretty close. On the Gateway, I installed an extra 8GB of ram to bump it up to 16GB for $35 and installed (2) 500GB NVME SSD in it for $110. On the Lenovo I probably wouldn't touch the ram but I would probably throw another 500GB NVME SSD into it if there is a slot available. With that being the case, the Lenovo wouldn't need as much money for upgrades at least for my use. The screen discrepancy is probably the deciding factor as the Gateway refresh rate will be better for high end gaming. HTH

The new Legion 5 will release in March 2021 for $769.99 with next gen Ryzen CPU, 3000 series GPU, 165Hz panel, <3ms response time. If you can stand to wait 2 months I would recommend doing so.

If you buy from Lenovo, just pray it doesn't break. My daughters IdeaPad has a problem with the power plug in...we chatted with support and they created a ticket to send it in. (This is our second time sending it in...the camera broke after 3 months). We heard nothing from them for days. I finally chatted support to ask if they had it...and they said yes, and to allow 5-10 business days for repair. One week later, back comes the laptop, repackaged with nothing done to it. I contact support. They can't even acknowledge they received it. Have no record of shipping it back. This is just a summary...its way worse than this. We are going to throw it in the trash and buy a different model (local computer stores say that port is soddered on the MB, a 400 dollar part to replace). The computer is one year old. I've worked 30 years in the computer industry....this is, without question, the worst support experience I have ever had. Never again Lenovo.

To those who need one, you are free to buy.

To others, the nvidia 3xxx and newer AMD are coming out. Intel is getting crashed.

Let me add one more point, these older intel CPUs have bugs, and when you patch it, the performance decreases further. (Of course, you can choose not to patch it)
And nvidia 3xxx is supposed to be leap and bound better than prev gen. It is fab on smaller node (8nm).

Don't bite now if you don't need one now.
