1 TB SSD with upgradeable RAM and that beast of a processor is a deal all by itself.

Was thinking about this laptop and the Swift 3. I want 16gb of ram and was thinking about this because it has an upgradable slot. My only question is the build quality, screen, and battery life. The specs seem great on paper...

So I had to surf around for a while to see how good the GPU is on the Ryzen 4700

https://laptoping.com/gpus/produc...n-7-4700u/

Puts it on par with MX250/25w and just behind the mx350/15w.

Some more benches here, from other similar laptops using the ryzen 4700u.

https://www.techspot.com/review/2...00u-4500u/

Honestly I was hoping for better GPU. While this one likely kicks the intel GPU to the curb, it's not going to cut it for 1080p gaming. This is too bad. I was looking to replace my gigantic Acer Nitro 5 for something smaller like this. But my Nitro has a 1050ti which is double to triple the GPU performance of the MX250..... and the 1050ti is no beast. It's a 1080p medium GPU. So that makes the Ryzen GPU more like 720p high or 1080p low.

Also the wifey wants touchscreen. I don't really care personally.

Decent $600 laptop. There is 1 so-dimm slot for ram expansion but it might be populated with a 4gb sodimm (4gb is soldered) so you'll have to get rid of that to upgrade. Could probably sell for $25 on ebay.

Does anyone know if this is currently in 1x8gb config or 2x4gb config? I am looking into getting this if it is 1x8gb and is upgradable to 16gb.

Well then look for computers with a dedicated GPU?

Real GPU laptops under $700 are hard to come by unless I just want a newer Nitro or something that looks/weighs just like it (I don't).

I'm still debating this one. It would be a huge upgrade over my current travel laptop if nothing else.

edit - example = https://slickdeals.net/f/14800522-msi-gl65-leopard-10sdr-492-15-6-144-hz-intel-core-i7-10750h-geforc...

$769 after rebate. But it's huge and looks just like my Nitro. I don't know if the wife would even notice the difference. That is an upgrade over my current one, but assuming I could sell the old one for $400ish, not really a 3-400 upgrade spec wise.
There's stuff like this for $700-800 with a 2060, and prices will be dropping now with 3060 release.

Why didn't you look at the 1650 + 4600H Gateway from Walmart? $600, can upgrade the RAM with another stick to get dual-channel configuration, uses the Tongfeng chassis that is fairly light and thin (certainly thinner than the Nitro 5).
