Normally for freezers, fridges and things that have refrigerant can be layed down on their side, but require 24-48 hours for the refrigerant to settle before you can plug them in.

Look up the freezer dimensions, add buffer for packaging, measure your trunk space.

Why even ask a question like this? No one knows which SUV you have, how much clutter you have in it, and which of the 3 freezer sizes you want.

We fit an 8 cubic foot chest freezer in to my wife's 2000 Ford Focus hatchback once. No packaging (free freezer off of Craigslist), and it squeezed in with about an inch and a half clearance on the top and sides.

I'd be shocked if a 5' chest freezer didn't fit in a modern SUV, although you might have to take it out of the box.

I've bought two of these in 3.5 Cubic Feet right before the pandemic got out of control across the US. ( Ordered and picked up from store on separate days. They were a great investment. I also bought another when it came in stock about two months ago for my mother in law.

I love two 3.5 instead of one 7.0. I was able to fit in the back seat of my chrysler 300 taken out of the box.

Edit: and I did leave upright for over 24 hours before plugging in.
How's the power consumption for two 3.5 compared to one 7.0?

Voice typing! And this may well work okay under 55° f, however the compressor will run for longer periods of time, be less efficient, and may not maintain the freezer temperature properly. however once the ambient gets below the freezer temperature it will be fine :-) because it won't need to run
So is it good for garage usage in MN?

You sure you have the "NS-CZ70WH0" and not the "NS-CZ70WH6"? The dimensions are different and one of the reviewers of the WH0 says the floor can fit 4 corny's (even has a picture).

I only ask because I'm considering buying one for this exact purpose but want to fit 4 with no collar.
ahh, yes mine is the *WH6.

I've had an insignia 3.5 cuft one in an attached, but uninsulated garage in NC for 4 years now. So the garage gets really hot in the summer and pretty cold in the winter. No problems so far.

Not sure what, if any, differences there are, but my model number is slightly different: ns-cz35wh7. I got it for $99 in Feb 2017.
what is hot?

my garage gets to 120F

thanks. that is clear now. yes 55F maximum is too hot. how do you get the degree symbol while typing? Peace
To type a degree symbol, hold down the Alt key on your keyboard and while holding it, enter 0176 on your keypad. This will only work if your keyboard has a numerical keypad on the right side of the keyboard - won't work to use the number keys that are above the letter rows.

If you don't have a numerical keypad on your keyboard, you can still type the degree symbol but it's a bit more work. In the search box in the lower left corner of your screen, type "Character Map" (usually it will pop up as you begin to type that search out), you'll find the degree symbol roughly in the middle of the grid of the map. Click on the degree symbol (it will get larger) to select it (you should see it in the box now that says "characters to copy". Then click "Select", then "Copy". Now it's on your clipboard. Now you can just paste it in any document by using Ctrl - V. Like this: ° See, it works!

I honestly don't keep track of it and have alot of devices and appliances in my home including a home theater. I haven't noticed any difference.

Ordered one of the 5 cu ft ones. My girlfriend is thrilled at the idea of having a usable refrigerator freezer since I can move a lot of my bigger vacuum sealed bags of meat into this.

I'm iffy on how it'll stick out 25" so I need to find a good place for it, but doing a little research:
  • Lowes says 1 cu ft is good for ~35lb of food
  • Price is pretty good for the 5

This 5cu ft Insignia freezer burned my house down. Highly recommend looking into the fire risks of plastic-cased chest freezers. They ignite and burn terrifyingly hot and fast.

I'll only buy all-metal freezers for the rest of my life.

I call BS on this. I have one, and it's metal, inside and out

Personally I think these are super over priced probably because of the pandemic

Home Depot has not had any in stock for months since COVID started.

I guess Americans are always panic buying. Go figure

Looks like a "capacity" dropdown on the right to choose the size.
Apparently, there are two different options for each size. Look identical, but the SKU, reviews, and prices are different.
Perhaps the ones in the OP are older models?

These aren't bad. I bought two a couple years ago on a BF sale for $100/ea. I guess they added a shovel and a light from what I read. I like the 5cu because it's easy to drag around, and I put these in my basement, surge protected. I think they will be good for the next plandemic, so I can stock up on stuff from the local farm instead of going to the grocery store and having idiots yelling at me about a mask.

How do you insulate a garage door ?
I insulated my door using double radiant barriers with air pockets in between them. I used liquid nails to adhere it to the door after roughing it up with sand paper. My garage stays much cooler in summer and much warmer in winter than outside temps. Looks something like this when done. Cheap to do and works very well. Both garages i have done like this worked good.
