In for one. Son is trying to crank out content on Premiere Pro. His 3yo Omen 15 is no longer cutting it. 3 years isn't TOO short to keep a good laptop, is it?

It's definitely not 80W as no Max-p version operates on that frequency.
Nvidia has officially dropped the max-p and max-q branding from the 3000 series lineup.. which now leaves the OEM to call it what they want even though now it is misleading. Lets see what power limits qualify for Gigabyte as max-p

It comes down to whether you can wait a little longer...If you need now right away then get last gen laptops.
If you can wait just 1 or 2 months, maybe longer, then $1400+ may be able to score you an rtx 3070 maxq (or p?) either Intel or Ryzen5800h.
This pre-order deal also requires waiting a month or longer (I'm guessing)...3060 maxp ---not sure how it compares to 3070...(but initial reviews showed 3070 not much faster than 2070, since mobile gpus are much different from desktop versions, maybe 3060 max p is between a 2070 maxq and 2070 super)

Refresh every year and a half. Sell the old one on eBay/Craigslist. Treat it like a lease situation where you are really renting it for $10-15/month. Desktop PC's you can wait every 3-4 years, but laptops lose performance/value much faster. Price you can sell for typically drops faster after year 1 before steadying around year 3.

There is literally a 3070 max p version of this laptop available on this same site right now for $1560. That's the one I bought. When I emailed they said it would be ~2 weeks to ship that, in fact, faster than the 3060 one it seems - possibly because fewer of you are buying it Stick Out Tongue

It's not accurate. The site description has "USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C". Pretty sure all the ports should be up to date because why wouldn't you do that 🤔

What the hell are you talking about? It does have a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port but why does that not mean that it won't have a USB 2.0 port? Even Gigabyte's official store says that it has USB 2.0. Don't give your lame points to justify your lame claims.

Nice. Sounds like one of the best rtx 3070 deals so far. I can't image prices being that much better than that even during the holidays--maybe $1300 at best in December. Even the OP's RTX 3060 deal is also a solid deal!. Might only come down $200 by end of the year for $1050 to $1150 from other brands.(on average Rtx 3060 will have 10-30 FPS improvement over Rtx 2060)
The only con is not having a higher rez 1440p screen, but that's nitpicking.

Yeah I didn't spend enough time to figure out their context - I figured they were just saying the pc only has usb 2.0 ports. It looks like it does have one, and two USB 3 ports, which is what I'd expect and the point I was intending to make - there's no chance a brand new machine would ship without *any* usb 3 ports, though they could still of course include usb 2 ports in addition, which is exactly what this machine does.

Ports: 1x USB 3.0 (Type C) | 2x USB 3.0 (Type-A) | 1x USB 2.0 (Type A) | HDMI | Rj- 45 Ethernet Jack | Mini-DisplayPort | 1x Micro SD Card Reader | 1x 3.5 mm Audio in jack, 1x 3.5 mm Audio Out Jack

From this it looks like that's exactly what a rtx 3060 TGP might be https://videocardz.com/newz/there...aptop-gpus

Max q is anywhere from 60-70, and max p anywhere from 80-115

Anybody order this with the CASH coupon but pay by credit card?
It says the coupon only applies if we pay by check or wire transfer.

I paid by VISA using the CASH coupon without any issues. There is no way that I'd buy this using cash. CC protections are too important for $38.
