I have 805 fico and they decline my Application for Venture credit card and wasted 1 credit check. I won't be applying any Capital one credit card anytime soon.
Call the reconsideration line, could be an error on the app or a typo. Happened to me before
Keep in mind that you'll also get a hard pull from all 3 bureaus anytime you apply for a Capital One credit card.

Anyone who has open line of credit already should cancel their cards once approved for a cash back card. Having too many open credit cards is a RED FLAG to any lender regardless of current credit score. Nobody needs more than 2 open lines of credit.

its a soft pull, not syaing you want to get denied but most credit card applications only do a soft pull.

ok apparently one cannot edit posts, but after calling them i learned that the credit inquiry may be a hard pull. whats weird is they cant even tell you if its a credit pull even after trying to apply, youll be reffered to the bureau which is very bizarre. any credit card company ive spoken to was able to tell me exactly if something was a hard or soft pull
This company is so dumb. I had read before applying capital one is the only CC company that does not have a "reconsideration" phone line to request a person look at your application in case the algorithm (companies all use automatic algorithms now to approve/deny) screwed up. Capital one is like google, they give zero f's so why even have customer service?
I applied for this card after having had them spam my mailbox for literally at least the last year every other week with offers for it. Sure pre-approval offers don't guarantee anything, but I do easily qualify.
So I applied last week, and the application was stalled and they asked for two documents to prove identity. I was annoyed and busy, so I blew it off until this week. Submitted documents on Tuesday and got an immediate denial - reason given is too many recent requests for credit.
For a second I was actually worried someone stole my information.. But I logged into credit karma to check my report and see what happened. I only have one hard pull (one on each of the reporting agencies btw - capital one is know for being dbags and hitting all the agencies with hard pulls while most banks do one). Turns out that capital one hard pulled my credit last week when I applied, and they immediately updated it to the reporting agencies. This week when I submitted the documents they must have checked again (will see in a few days if they did this through a second hard pull or via soft) and SAW THEIR OWN HARD PULL and counted that against me. 😂
How f'ing dumb can their algorithm be? Can't say people shouldn't apply because I did want this card for some easy zero interest, but be careful with such a brain dead company... If you're sensitive to your credit taking a hit, might want to avoid it. I don't really care, was almost three years since I last applied for anything and I'm not in any hurry. Good luck!

If you do some basic internet research you'll find that everyone knows capital one hits all three credit agencies with hard pulls. Sometimes even for credit line increases.

Most likely they do know and don't tell you because the truth will only discourage you from applying. I agree with your take away though, why let them do all those hard pulls when there are better companies to get cards from.
I raked about $480 besides the initial $200 bonus yet after I've used my account on a new phone ( upgrade iphone 11 to 13 ), they suspended the card and asked for copies of id, social etc to be sent via the web - things which I don't like to do especially these days with so many online breaches.
They closed my account and no sign of the $480 bonus - anyone had something like this happen to them? Or what to do in this situation?

yeah one time i had a bonus that was taken away after tdbank cancelled my card from inactivity. just report them to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, thats how i got it back
I had the best experience with this bank compared to wells Fargo, Citi, Amex, and Chase. Was referred by a friend who also gave me $20 Amazon gc on approval. So netted $245 total ($20 amazon+ $200 cash back+ $25 reward on $500 spend) from this deal.

So did I. I got 200.00 cash back within days of spending 500.00. I referred my son to apply for the card. Within 2 days of him getting approved i received 150.00 cashback for the referral and acceptance. And now CB on everything i purchase. This is a great card
