IIRC someone mentioned it's a Dell custom X570 board
Thank god. So it will support Zen 3 processor if needed. Dell web site says its B550A Frown

Does anyone know the chipset for this configuration? Is B550A or X570?
Okay, here's the Alienware Aurora Ryzen Edition Setup and Specifications PDF
https://dl.dell.com/topicspdf/ali..._en-us.pdf
Now, unless they misprinted something, the Chipset is B550A
Says that on Page 13.
Also here's the service manual:

How do they support Zen 3 processors with this chipset? I read online this particular chipset does not support Zen 3.

Yes, it's on SOME cards, for SOME people. Not everyone has it. I checked ALL of the offers on ALL of my cards. YMMV. I say that as someone who holds a variety of Chase cards, including a Business one.

No idea, I just decided to dig in and pull out the manual. I wanted to know some things for doing some aftermarket upgrades. It's possible that it's 570X and the manual is wrong, however both of those manuals are specifically for the Aurora Ryzen Edition, and it's listed on the support page for the model listed in this deal.

i.e. I'm probably going to be watching for sales on RAM and replace the 16GB RAM that comes with it with a 32GB set.

Order placed yesterday already in production today on Dell's order status page. Amazing. Estimated shipping is 12/18, let's see if it's earlier than that...

Just placed an order via chat and asked for the $1,230 deal with CPU liquid cooling upgrade.

Subtotal: $1,262.55
Tax: $112.68
Total: $1,375.23

charged everything on amex with 10% cb to cover tax. paid extra so i don't have to deal with waiting for the deal tomorrow and potentially not getting it.

I googled a bit more, seems like while some 3rd party software says it's X570, it is indeed B550A according to Dell support on some forums.

The reason is that 3rd party software may not properly ID OEM drivers and chipset.

It is also mentioned that Alienware Aurora is known to block out next gen CPU via BIOS so the CPU may not be easily upgradable to Zen3.

I think I'm going to pass on this, really good deal if you are happy with the specs as is, but my original plan was to get a 5000 series chip to swap out the CPU.

big deal if it doesn't support zen 3 to be honest. the 8-core processor in here should last quite a few years, especially with games still mostly relying on a beefy GPU. i'd be worry about the upgrade path of the GPU.
