I'd be thrilled with 50mbps, over the moon with 100mbps. Now Musk claims that starlink speeds will hit 300mbps by end of the year.

I haven't read the whole thread but just thought i would let anyone thinking about starlink know what my experience has been. I'm in upstate NY and received my kit about 2 weeks ago. I waited about 1 week for it to ship. It does not come with a roof mount. I had to order that for $24 and it took 3 weeks to arrive after I realized there was no roof mount. In the meantime I used the tripod that it came with to set it up on my porch roof. I thought maybe it would be too low or obstructed but it's working great. I've had speeds of anywhere from 100 to a max of 169 so far. We've gone from trying to use a cellular router from att that works half the time to actual high speed that's faster than the cable I have at my business. It has only lost service once that I noticed and it was back online in less than 30 seconds. Hope this helps.

Yes it gets me around the 10gb hotspot limit and I have the GL.iNET plugged into a 5 port switch that provides internet for 2 computers and a pi and the wifi from it provides internet for a fire tv and several other devices

Interesting. I use PDANet for a lot of this, wonder if I did a phone with cell service, plugged into the GL.iNET with PDANet or Easytether running, then output to an ethernet switch or throw out wifi from there. That's a pretty great plan.

No. Other than possibly getting in before an area has too many customers and gets closed to new signups.

If you have a "better" option, best to stick with that. Fiber is preferable in most cases, that isn't an option for most I know, so I'm still waiting, my area isn't "on" yet (signed up immediately last year, prepaid almost 2 months ago). Only thing I'd like is a newer version of the hardware since it's been pretty much the same most of the beta so far (it would be nice if the cord could detach to be replaced if needed, but a revision might not have that either).
