This is incorrect now. This is shipped directly by newegg and they removed the dead pixel policy last year.

As far as return shipping goes Newegg is supposed to cover shipping for defective products but in case they pull a fast one on you then just pay with Paypal and they will cover it.

I'm used to 1k nits on my tvs. Can anyone that owns this chime in? 400 nits seems awfully low

If you want a higher nit monitor, you're going to be paying much much more. The reason why TVs need higher nits is because you're sitting much farther away. With monitors it's not as big of a necessity and I frankly think 400 nits gets plenty bright.
