Hell of a deal. Strix laptops have impeccable build quality (built like a tank). Sweet lighting, fast screen with 100% SRGB, unlike the base model. What's not to like? I know, I know, everyone is going to say 3060 this and 3060 that but if we're talking about a premium quality product (despite not being the highest end Scar model) at a bargain price, this is IT.

Cpu and memory is worth the extra $300 cost over the gateway creator for somewhat future proofing. 8 core 10870h is more future proof then a 10300h

The ROG Strix G15 has a better display, better processor, RGB lighting (if that's important to you), faster RAM, larger battery, better/newer wireless connectivity tech. Strix for sure

Strix lineup has always been a "gamer first" gaming laptop. If you want to spend more for less performance just so you can look presentable in a coffee shop or whatever then go right ahead (although sans-RGB, this one is pretty muted overall). I'd rather have a separate laptop for work anyway as no gaming laptop is ideal for everyday use.

That said, I agree, it's cheesy and there's no getting around it :p to be fair though, they have cleaned up the newer models a lot. I don't even think all of the models with this styling were the exact same either because this one appears to not have the underglow
Yeah, I totally understand making it first and foremost for gaming, I have no quibbles with that. But the way I see it, nobody is excited by that "Republic of Gaming" text, but plenty of people are specifically *not* buying it for that reason. It's not really in my budget to buy two thousand-dollar laptops just to have one that looks client-appropriate. It's a shame because the rest of the case actually looks nice and build quality seems good, at a great price. Hopefully I can find a better option for my needs.

100$ more gets u a 3060 powered unit which is what I'd spring for instead.
Yea but from I've seen the 3060 is paired with the crappy versions of intel 11th gen quad cores which fair worse then older 10th gens (everything except for some single core benches) and this Strix has the i7 8 core 10870 which is much nicer then most other models with the 6 core 10750h

Plenty of people aren't buying it just because it says gamers on it? Or is it just you? Come on now dude, is it really that big a deal what a sticker says?

Asus Dash TUF 15 I guess. And that will be a terrible decision. That has a RTX 3060 60W variant and the 4 Core CPU is bottlenecking the Graphics card a big time. Check some reviews of that laptop before posting your expert opinions.
Gigabyte g5 G5 KC-5US2130SH on newegg . My "expert opinion" deems 6c/12t & 3060 worthy more than your guessing games ✌️

Just make sure you are 100% sure getting this laptop from Microsoft because there is not an easy cancellation process. Unless anyone has tips on cancelling a pending status order from the Microsoft Store.

That would be even another bad choice because it has a Quad Core Comet Lake i5-10500H and the reviewers actually showed thatTiger Lake based i7-11370H Quad Core beats all the Quad Core 45W TDP i5 Comet Lake Processors, both in single and multi-threaded benchmarks.
Yes, I guessed it wrong but what I was trying to say is that going with Quad Core Processors at this stage, bottlenecks the GPU in almost every games. Now in some games, it is not significant whereas in some other games, it is pretty noticeable.

AMD Radeon VEGA 8 Integrated Graphics, running at 2000 MHz. That is slightly powerful than MX250 dedicated graphics. And this supports Optimus Graphics switching as well.

This intel has Vega? I thought Vega was for AMD?

Thanks, looks like everything I wanted on tech specs (though as always, cheaper would be better). Grabbed one to arrive in couple days, hopefully meets expectations. Need to remember to thoroughly test it before I remove the ROG sticker from the keyboard!

I just had to return a Lenovo 2-in-1 that I haggled down to a hundred bucks cheaper than this (by getting them to manually remove the $120 3 year protection from the deal bundle) that had some extra features (fantastic screen and touchscreen), but didn't have the RAM to do all the multitasking and remote logins and background browser gaming concurrently that I needed. It's surprisingly hard to find 16GB RAM on a $1k and under computer...

Looking to do mostly gaming and VR, obviously this has some better specs than the Walmart deal a few days ago on the LegionY540 i7-9750. But given all that I'm curious about the heat put out by them. Can a second ssd be added? I'm replacing a Lenovo with a 960m.

It has Intel UHD 630 graphics

I actually placed 2 orders, cancelled the first because wrong payment method and I didn't use cashback (it said 3.5%, ended up only being 1%). Now I'm not sure if I wanna keep either because I'm hearing so-so things about the cooling on this model. For some reason I don't even have the option to cancel the second order and the first is still pending cancellation.

That may be true for 10th gen i3 quad-cores and "U' designated processors which 10500H is neither since its a hexacore which on average provides higher scores than the 11th gen quad cores.

Does anyone know if this model has the under lighting trim around the laptop. The pictures don't show any. Thanks!

My Bad, yes, this is a Hexacore and looks like a rebranded i7-10750H with 200 MHz base and 200 MHz Boost Clock frequency reduction. Yes, in that case, this is a good deal for the price. Thanks for correcting me my ignorance.
