for this deal, you will have $49 credit after 60 days. so basically you have 4 months of service included. If you don't care about the extra 2 months, I guess you can just cancel it. On your Fi acct you should see your progress status. it will tell you how many days you need to maintain Fi service.

Is it really possible to use no data on Fi service to not get charged the $10/GB on their basic plans? On my current service (Cricket), I found that even when my phone is on wifi all day and hasn't left home, Cricket shows that a small amount of data was still used that day (e.g. 0.4 MB, 0.2 MB).

Google Fi data is expensive but is prorated, so you pay only for what you use.

Thanks for clarifying. I mistakenly thought that $10 was the minimum charge for data to use up to 1GB.

It's still a legit question you asked. My Mom had Fi for years and she'd leave the house once or twice a month. She never used her cell even when not at the house and it would still rack up data charges while she was away from home wifi for those trips. Very strange and it was like $4-$6 a month in data charges. Not a lot but a waste. Never figured out how to stop it. But it does happen.

Does anyone know if Boost Mobile phone numbers listed on ebay can be used to port into Fi? Contacted a couple of the sellers there and they said they are not sure. They only provide the phone number, account # and a pin #, and I'm not sure if that is sufficient info to port in. Does Fi ask for other info like last 4 digits of a social security # or zip code/address?

You can use Tello to port in. Tello is a good option if one has compatible phones to open new lines. It seems they only accept unlocked GSM phones now for new lines, which I don't have any.

You don't have to actually have an unlocked GSM phone on hand to activate the GSM SIM; and since GSM SIM is also hot swappable, you don't have to pair it with a real IMEI to activate.

Sorry if this is a dumb question. If I buy the Moto One 5G Ace, transfer my current ATT number in, then once Fi is activated, put that Sim into my iPhone12 and use the service, until the $279 credits are used up and I essentially got the phone for free (since I was paying for ATT service anyways)

Then I can use the Moto 5G Ace after day 61 with any other carrier?

Thanks in advance!

When I check out it asks me for $0. So my guess is that it's pretty much free but if you cancel, you will have to pay in full?
If you're paying $0 at checkout, you must have selected the installment plan option ($2.04/month for 24 months) and will get billed monthly for a portion of the phone cost.
