I guess there is still a need for CompactFlash (CF)? What new cameras use this format?

all the new cameras. this is the fastest standard. The CFExpress type A (used by Sony) is half the speed.

just skimmed the amazon reviews. I guess if you need bang for buck as the price is amazing for the size. I recently bought a sony tough card for $200 for a 128 GB card. that sony card is amazing. I shot thousands of pics and 8k/4k videos and transfer to a PC only took a couple minutes.

CompactFlash and CFexpress are not remotely the same. Most of the higher end ones do or have XQD with CFexpress compatibility

The reviews are for the 128Gb version. NOT the same write speeds as the 256Gb.

(1700/1100 R/W) vs (1550/550 R/W)

either way, the speeds are way below the advertised speeds.

I think you're confusing traditional CF cards with the newer CFexpress cards

Exactly. Why are people who aren't familiar with the format viewing a post for a product they're unfamiliar with and commenting just to bash the format, which they're not familiar with? And why are people marking these comments "helpful"?

Lackluster speed withstanding, this is a great price for the capacity.

Just when SD cards were getting extremely cheap and fast, they introduce another more expensive standard. Sigh.

it's leagues ahead of SD cards. My Sony CFExpress Type B 128GB card is rated at 1700 MEGABYTES/sec for reading and 1480 MEGABYTES/sec for writing.

Compare that to a U3 UHS-II SD card which you're lucky if it reads at 170 megabytes/sec and writes at 100 megabytes/sec.

Once you've experienced CFExpress, it's really hard to go back to SD cards. In fact, after using it, I wish my Canon EOS R5 had 2 CFExpress cards instead of 1 CFExpress slot and 1 UHS-II SD slot.

I can't imagine using CFExpress Type A cards which are even more expensive but yet half the speed. They sacrificed a lot to get the cards to Type A size (SD size).

This is not Compactflash. A LOT of new camera's use this card. Canon R5, R6 for example.

Lol 8k videos and 40+mp in burst mode need these type of speed to work.
