Oculus Store [oculus.com] has SKYBOX VR Video Player for $9.99. Usually goes for $14.99. Even though Bigscreen is the best Media Player (and so much more) in VR IMO, this is still a great app to keep in your library. It has a very well polished and extremely simple UI, can connect to DLNA / Network Drives and has an option to hide videos
.
This is a cross buy application on Oculus platform.
Features include:
- Automatically recognize video stereo mode ( 180° / 360° / 2D / 3D ).
- AirScreen: stream videos to multiple headsets
- Support DLNA media servers and SMB (1.0 & 2.0) shares.
- 8k local and streaming playback with Quest 2, 5k for Quest.
- Simple and intuitive UI; Spectacular VR environment.

They also enabled cross buy yesterday. I got the Rift version years ago when it was free so the Quest version now shows up as free for me in the store, which is nice.

when skybox works, it's slightly smoother for videos in terms of framerate, but every now and then it gets a bit choppy..... (I have a wifi 6 router right next to me)
deoVR never gets choppy for me but maybe a few frames less smooth, it's consistent tho
Yes, it's also great for watching movies with friends but they need same file on VR or u have to host, tether to PC with bigscreen on steam.
I tried the beta and don't seem to support it.
People use skybox for that.
