You also don't have to worry about going over the edge of the pad with these quick movements when its bigger.
It can help prevent scratches on the desk surface from the keyboard.
It can be a matter of style and a way to customize your gaming rig.

Steve does a tremendous amount for the PC community including holding companies accountable when they are disingenuous (ahem..NZXT).

But has mouse pad is also almost double the price of this one. And also 15 dollar shipping.
Doubt it. It's probably just a Scotch Guard type coating that will rub off after running your mouse over it enough.
With that said, don't put Scotch Guard on these. You'll ruin them.
I have two of the same style, so I just wash one and swap in a clean one.
I douse them with Dawn dish soap, run the shower over them, and then leave it hanging to dry.

I don't see any decent ones for under $14 on Amazon though.
If you don't care about the design or the brand, just search "xxxl mousepad" and you'll find plenty of cheap competitors.
This one is identical, but without the design and $2 cheaper: https://smile.amazon.co
This slightly smaller one is currently $8 with coupon: https://smile.amazon.co

Good to know the pad is worth it. About iCue... Have you ever met Logitech G Hub? It makes iCue seem like J.A.R.V.I.S.
Also, it's convenient for moving your entire mouse/keyboard setup out the way at once (I use monitor arms, so I can move everything out of the way if I want to use more desk space).
They're certainly not a necessary, but I have three of these keyboard/mouse mats and have really happy with them for years.
