Too small for a Nakiri, maybe small Veg prep. 7/8 in is better cutting surface suited for a Nakiri. Just some food for thought
Looks like there is a 7" nakiri for $79.95

It's a great deal on an excellent forged knife, there's no denying that. I just want people to be aware that 5 inches is not as practical or comfortable as 7 inches on a Nakiri

This here is a knife that is made to last one's lifetime. I've set of famed classic set that is yet to be opened because I've been using just one kitchen knife, ICON class, for some 20+ years.
All that is required as a decent quality Japanese whetstone, be sharpened weekly basis.

Great deal for a pro knife but I found that the 6 and 8" Victorinox Fibrox when they go on sale for $15 & $20 are unbeatable for quality/price

I'm very happy with my santoku. What are advantages to adding this knife?

first off, I a complete beginner when it comes to cooking and tools to use, including knifes. Im also a vegan so everything I eat is plant based

I currently have a Zwilling Pro 7-Inch Chef's Knife that is my everyday knife but I find that it leaves a bit of the veggies uncut due to the curved blade, and in my research found that a Nakiri knife would be perfect for cutting veggies straight through.

So would this be a good knife to buy for my everyday knife for veggies or is there a better knife to wait for on a deal?

I don't mind spending more money as Im the type to buy once and cry once. if there is a better overall knife for $100-$150, I can wait for a deal on that. thanks for any advice for a new knife shopper

Usuba's a better knife when you're working with a larger quantity. Still think Nakiri's knife action is better.

This one is an 8" blade and half off, with free shipping:

This is only $30, and made in USA with great reviews (may be made by Lamson, not sure)... and is 9"

Not quite a 12" but at that point the extra 2" really doesn't make a difference.
