YMMV: TIP have everything set up in your cart. Sit on it for a few hours. Close the window for another hour or so. Eventually HP will take off another $60. Using id.me I got $55 off as well. 1% CB from your favorite CB site. It helps.

I got this one for a little under $1600:

I know it's more expensive, but it is 100% a Max P 3070 with 16 GB of 3200 RAM, and a 5800H... and it's not HP. Don't have many good experiences with HP.

Best Config imo is going with the rtx 3070 model with the qhd.
The ram i kept it at 8gb since you can upgrade it to 32gb yourself for a little over $100
The ssd I think its worth paying $20 for the one 512gb storage so you can have a extra slot available.

Comes out to about $1400 before tax

IMO, buy the $1289 laptop instead of the 1150 one. gd card upgrade is worth the additional $139

Price seems reasonable. Keep in mind the $1800 Asus has the Ryzen 9. When you spec the HP out to 16GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, and QHD, you end up at $1560. So you're at $260 cheaper with the Ryzen 7.

It seems like a good deal and not a price mistake for the HP.

The hour still applies. Their policy is also that once the order is sent to the factory you will 100% not be able to cancel. On top of all this, their phone bank is outsourced to india.

Damn I just got a laptop with a 5600m (basically a 1660ti) and deals like this make me wonder if should have just spent the extra $400 or so to get a 3070...

There's a restocking fee. I forget if it's 15% or 25% and you can't refuse delivery because they don't require signature. The delivery person can literally leave it anywhere they leave any other package.
