3070 laptops are going for about $2000 -$2500, that being said, HP has been known to undercut prices big time for some reason. It's always this preorder model though where you commit to buy, then they send your order to the factory who builds it. Must be some china labor thing that saves them hundreds of thousands of dollars when they do this I'm not understanding.
Nah, Zephyrus can be had for around $1600 if you use coupons. I think retail on it is $1799 as well.

Gtreddy over here really trying to hate on how great a deal this was, specifically with the R7 AND 3070. HP obviously messed up something because upgrading the CPU and GPU by a whole lot (6 cores model to 8 cores + 3060 up to 3070) for only $140?

Then they have the nerve to list some shit $500 more or $200-300 more but with worse specs & build quality, yet use the reasoning of 'what do I need more cores for' or 'Intel is life'.

I should have bought this, with the R7 3070 16gb ram 512 ssd and rgb keyboard -- Total $1330. Screen upgrade too much for me.

1330!!!! You'd have to spend 1800 to get similar specs (with maybe 1TB ssd over the 512 here) but even then I can pay $50 and pop in another 512 myself. That Asus Rog linked earlier? Physical looks alone make me question thermals, sure screen says qhd & R9 over R7 but looking at https://www.notebookcheck.net/R9-...596.0.html

More is obviously better, but ONLY if the cost benefit ratio is still worth it. More for less? Obviously GREAT.

I have the 15" Asus Tuf coming in from BB tomorrow and ordered this Omen as soon as i saw it this morning. The Asus is going back if they don't cancel this.

Look, you can say I'm hating on this deal all you want. I'm not. Never said that I was and you can't tell me I am. I said it's a good deal.

I'm just saying I don't think a lot of people are factoring everything in. But it's just an opinion and I was attempting to show the other side of coin. I guess I won't do that again lol. I'll just come to look.

Wasn't trying to get everyone all excited and riled up.

I appreciated your perspective, but definitely disagree. Smilie

I've been a professional computer nerd a long ass time bc I am an old, and I've seen what pricing and performance look like when Intel has performance and market dominance. Amd being competitive is better for everyone (except Intel's margins), and I want to support what they've done by buying my next system with their kickass cpu. Especially if it's a super slick deal like this one! (And now, if this ships, I'll see if I can live without PD)

Lol... new gaming consoles are also rocking the equivalent of 20XX gpu's. They are probably using the octacores to reduce thermal load so they don't have to make them the same size/noise as gigantic desktops for $500. Plus the actual architecture for each device is different.

You're basically just falling into this more is better category without knowing why.
A lot of people also use laptops for productivity tasks. The extra cores can help a LOT in those cases. From tasks such as encryption to code compilation and video editing. Games have now started taking advantage of 6 cores and soon we might start to see utilization of even 7-8 cores with the current gen consoles rocking 8 cores. I know multithreaded programming is hard and developer's nightmare, but strategy games have been in the past using more cores very efficiently. So who knows.

This is actually more comparable... $1450 with a 1TB SSD undiscounted.

Point I'm trying to make is that it's not a massive savings for this HP Omen. You're more or less getting a good deal, but not crazy good. The asus in cart, with the 10% discount it's sitting at $1310 and don't have to wait 30+ days.

I chose the tuf between it, the omen, and the g15. It's $60 more, but I also get 1Tb, 240hz, and USB PD. To me, thats a better deal. And I personally prefer the intel models because it's easier to run a hackintosh or Mac OS vm.

But I still think the HP deal is good and happy you enjoy the deal. Just not as good as everyone is making it out to be.
Why did you choose TUF F15? That's 80w TDP on the GPU. The performance is the same as RTX 2060 mobile:

https://youtu.be/Cao3tVkOZkc

The HP Omen is 90w, dynamic boost to 95w 3070 which is highly comparable to the GS66 Stealth 3070 Max-Q (80w, but dynamic boost to 95w)

Yes and No. PD is limited by wattage, but that DOES NOT mean gaming laptops do not support it. Unless you are using the dgpu pretty extensively, the 100W PD limitation should be fine and the higher end gaming laptops support PD. Whether that versatility is worth it or not, is up to you. For me, if I'm spending over 1K on a laptop, PD is super nice to have to be able to charge on the got with a power pack easily when I'm not gaming.

Absolutely... 1.2 can handle 2k 165.

The only people that care that much about nits are nitwits. 300 nits is well above good enough for matte displays (almost all gaming laptops)

Fair enough. I'm talking about this computer: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/asus...Id=6448848

When you spec the HP to roughly the same. it's not that much more expensive. You can't compare 8gb ram, 256gb, fhd, etc. Once you add the options to the HP, you're sitting at $250ish more for the Asus but you get the better ryzen, fingerprint, PD, etc...And let's be honest, 8gb RAM won't cut it and games these days are over 150gb each.. so if you need a 3070, you're going to need to spec it up.

can you tell me about ntsc and rgb ? 300nit is fine enough as you said

When could we know if the order is cancelled or went through? Could it be in the next few days or in the next weeks?

HP declned my order. I ordered the 3070 option for $1400.

I spoke on chat on HP's website (Order Number H341107319). When I asked why was my order declined, she said she does not know the reason why, and told me to call this number 1(866) 246 0504. When I called this number, I spoke with another agent on why this order was declined, and he said he does not know the reason why and suggest I make another order on HP's website or amazon. When I asked for a supervisor, he told me supervisors do not speak on phone at this time and then email to HP's email address. I am still awaiting response.

Just an FYI that my order was just cancelled even after the payment posted to my credit card. HP can cancel your orders but will not allow you to do the same. Fantastic company!

Why did they cancel your order out of my own curiosity? Did you use any of the discounts? My order is just sitting there fine, although they may still cancel it later.
