To be fair, even though the interior has declined over the years, on Essential Craftsman, he has been using the new model for years now in real world usage and he thinks they're still very good.

Might keep using my hand-me-down & hold out for the Makita. But the video is 4 years old so both products have gone downhill since.

Love my non-worm (right-side blade) Skilsaw which can be found on sale for around $80 if you're lucky. It's also magnesium and comes with Diablo blade.

I know these wormdrives are considered the "gold standard" but I've never understood why they are preferred. I use a dewalt 20v Brushless XR mostly. What are the advantages to a unit like this?

I bought this saw a few months ago, have been using it very often reno'ing my house. I was initially worried about the things I was reading about it being a Chinese company now, etc., but this saw has performed great. It's been dropped numerous times and hasn't missed a beat. It has lots of power, lots of torque. I believe I paid closer to $200, so this is a great price.

I bought the heavy version of this last year, and outside of the weight, love the thing, although I paid $199, I think, but mine did come with a Diablo blade. I needed it to make the angle cuts on Hardie Board for the gables of a shed. I've never been that good with a regular circular saw, and I cut noticeably better with the blade on the left side. If I didn't have one, I would jump on this.

I've been debating this or the Makita hypoid saw. Anyone used both?
