It's in the title, 1 waste to 1.5 filtered.

The main issue that the ratio doesn't address is that as these types of filters sit idle they lose their filtering ability on the initial water flow and may take several minutes of flow to get the TDS down to similar levels as a tank system.

I decided on this one, it was on sale for around $335 https://www.amazon.com/Home-Maste...00N2941N8/

I have not had any issues with it so far, definitely some of the best tasting water I've had.

Did you reverse the numbers?

A low drain ratio of 1.5:1 means that dispensing 1.5 cups of pure water produces only 1 cup of wastewater

Yes, you are correct. I had it backwards.

I was looking at that model but settled on this one from Costco since it's cheaper https://www.costco.com/brondell-c...57228.html

It uses a pump to force high water pressure required by the RO membrane..

Okay? I don't get your point. Go look at reviews and see the complaints about TDS being essentially no different with the start of flow after the unit hasn't been used for a while, and needing several minutes to get TDS down into the 10-30 range.

I have their system installed at my house, only the white version which comes with a charcoal filter. And it reduces contamination by 90% as soon as I turn on the faucet. There is only one bad review claiming the problem you have mentioned, Which doesn't really say much, maybe this user set it up incorrectly?

600GPD is still slower than a tank RO when dispensing water.

Maybe. This was like 6 months ago but I thought I saw this complaint fairly frequently.

Are you using a separate TDS device or just going based on the unit's display?
