I built my own amplifier based on raspberry pi running moode(https://moodeaudio.org/) 3 years ago, it supports airplay, bluetooth, spotify stream... I listen music every day. I highly recommend you guys to try this DIY. you can save money, build a much powerful amplifier and have fun.

other than Raspberry PI, you need to buy one of expansion boards.

I also attached a 1TB SSD drive to this system:

From the review [audiosciencereview.com] that mttpalmer linked above, the headphones output wasn't properly designed:
Perhaps, but this DAC is also:
- A Bluetooth 5.0 receiver with both Aptx-HD and LDAC codecs
- A Digital Source Selector that can switch between TosLink (TV), USB (Computer) and Coax (DVD player?) Digital Sources & Bluetooth
- A preamp that controls volume for amps or powered speakers
- A Wireless Remote Controller for all above functions
- A sweet looking cast aluminum box with Oled display and Hi-Res sticker that triggers confirmation bias in audiophiles making everything sound better.
- A 50% off deal (compared to the Topping D50s) triggering endorphins for bargain addicts
- A low powered headphone amp useful in an emergency if your phone isn't charged

So, there's that.

Heads Ups: This comes with a USB power cable but no 5v USB adapter...so you need to provide that. No need for anything fancy. The Windows Driver is posted on the 1mii support page [1mii.com] It is a 7z compressed file, so get a free app to extract that if you do not have one.

Needs a built in amp and then I'd consider it.

It does have one that supports upto 32 ohms.

Just ordered one as my yulong d100 started to have serious issues. Let's see how this stacks up to it.

I use 12v/3a power adaptor for my x400 board.

I just checked the amazon site, x400 needs 6-26V 3A, up to 2×30W speaks(4 Ohm)
x930 needs 5v 3A, I don't use this

yes, this technically has an amp, but for all intents and purposes, it doesn't have an amp.

From the review [audiosciencereview.com] that mttpalmer linked above, the headphones output wasn't properly designed:
Quote :
Someone just tapped the RCA outs and brought it to the front and called it done. This is wrong as the RCA out typically has high impedance in the order of 100 ohm we see here. That high impedance causes a ton of power loss as we see in the 33 ohm test. And rules out using vast majority of headphones out there as it will interact with their impedance and change their frequency response (tonality).

In one line: this is a useless addition. You could get an RCA to 3.5mm female adapter and have the same on any other DAC.

True. So emergency monitoring use only on the headphone out. It won't hurt your headphones but they probably will not sound great.

But the rest of the measurements are virtually identical to the $250 Topping D50s, which lacks a headphone out.

Topping is a much better known brand with good customer support...but there is a significant price difference here.
