Well see that's the funny thing about this design. These containers are designed for you to pick up and tip over to get product out of them without need of a scoop. The problem here is that they made a really big one and said it's for charcoal, which is a pretty heavy product...

Honestly, good container for something like cereal and those lightweight variation kitty litters, but not rice and charcoal.

I concur with all the pellet comments. I have the non clear version of this. It is sealed air tight and keeps the pellets consistently dry. Definitely worth it for that application. I leave mine outside by the smoker and even when it rains for a week I open it and the pellets are perfectly dry.

I have had this container for over 10 years. It is stored outside with charcoal through ice, snow, rain and heat. Always keeps my charcoal dry. It is well worth even $15.

Regardless of the this or that back and forth, it's a good price for the actual container. But I've had this sitting in an Amazon wish list basically for 8 years or something and couldn't stomach the cost. We pickup charcoal during the 2 for $10 or whatever Lowes sales and this, unfortunately, falls into the bucket (see what I did there?) of an item that costs more than what it's actually storing. I'm not saying that's dead-stop, but like others said, you can get a 5 gallon bucket and a lid all day for $5 [lowes.com] combined. And for $15, that's plenty of storage for those Lowes sales. Plus, they stack much neater if you're putting these in your garage or shed or even outside.

I don't know. Like maybe they should include some meat claws or like a grilling fork with a built in thermometer.

I have one of these - but only use it to hold my loose bags of wood chunks for the smoker - its good at keeping them in once place, but for charcoal - just use the bag....

Luckily I have a container store 15 minutes from me. For some reason I prefer the clear version as opposed to the Amazon one. Getting this to store pellets for the smoker.

It's basically a pet food container; however, I did see the following in the product description:

And the patented dispenser, with its Bag-Gripper lid and convenient flip-top, keeps your hands clean and free of mess!

I believe that makes it more than a basic container. I'm not sure how this flip top works to keep the bag open so it doesn't collapse as you pour, but that's a really nice feature. Suppose they could market this as a pet food container, as well, since such a feature could apply there and to many other products.
