You cannot, you'll have to wait for it to expire. Like he states at the top you need to have an inactive account. The trick is to activate your 12 month gold, turn on auto renew for an extra month. Then go buy the GPU for $1 promo or if you used it you'll have to renew it and buy a month of it to equal 14 months. It will convert all your gold time to GPU time and state your next charge is in 14 months etc. You can actually buy and convert up to max 36 months but for that you can't take the free auto renew month.

I just did this a few mins ago.

Or you load up on 3 years' worth of Xbox live and do the $1 upgrade so that you have 3 years for $165. I just did this a few weeks back.

So I've never had Gamepass Ultimate (though I am a Gamepass subscriber). I bought 3 years of gold over Christmas, but I thought they were doing the conversion formula where they only give a third of your total months. Is the conversion still 1 for 1 when you do the $1 upgrade right now?

I just did this a few mins ago.
I took advantage of this 2 years ago when the conversion came out from gold to ultimate for $1. My subscription promotion paid up to Oct 2021. Any way to extend this cheap conversion now or do I need to wait for subscription to end before I renew it again.

the cheap conversion would only work once the ultimate pass ends.

I can confirm this works for a previous $1 subscriber. GPU expired on 1/2020 and I converted 2 years of gold plus the 1 month for auto renew. I was charged $1 for the first month and GPU has an auto renew date of 4/16/2023. I bought gold from costco (10 minute delivery) and amazon (instant).
