This is one of the rare example of movies that stayed true to the source materials. They stayed true to the source materials and many scenes of the original animated movies made it into this movie. They worked with Yukito Kishiro in creating the movie. There is a big reason why the movie has a cult following. Too bad, many people discounted the movie and didn't even give it a chance because... This movie is surprisingly good. Unfortunately, it's very unlikely there will be a sequel, because it didn't perform very well at all in sales. That's a shame.

Yeah, I liked it too. I never saw the Anime, so I don't have that to compare it to. Really hope they have a sequel, because the movie is definitely setup for that at the ending.

Probably the worst James Cameron film I've seen, expected a lot more. Visually stunning just like Valerian, but probably just as bad acting and script.
He produced but didn't direct. It's a Robert Rodriguez film
