If you remove any paid lines within the first year, the free line loses the promo and becomes paid.

TMO doesn't want people doing what you're wanting to do.

To accomplish it, you would need to:

1. Add free line.
2. Wait a year + one day.
3. Port out paid line to another carrier.
4. Keep paid line active on another carrier for 90 days (to preserve number).
5. Port old number back in on free line.

This whole process has taken you 1.25 years.
My port-in was initiated during T439 promo period and completed today outside of the promo period. Without the port in (with only the added line and traded-in) I was on a bad promo. Once the port-in completed today, the system auto updated to T439 promo in my account --> promotions. Therefore, I don't think it was a requirement the port-ins must be completed by 3/24 EOB, just as long as they are initiated.
YES, you can use this sim in your iPad. I pay for 2 lines and have 3 free lines on promotion (5 lines total)
I have 2 of my free lines in a iPad and a Samsung S4 tablet, with UNLIMITED data.
You have to call them and tell them you want to use the line (promo line) in a tablet but don't want to lose the promotion and you don't want to open a new line for this.
What they did for me, was block the phone service on the line and kept the messaging and data. That way I am able to use it in my tablet.
Every summer my daughter comes and visit from Germany. I take one of the sim card out of my tablet and put it in her phone..
I call T-Mobile and have them unblock the phone service. That way, my daughter has a phone while she is here in country.
When she leaves I call them back and get it blocked again. I have been doing this for close to 5 years. So I know for a fact it works.
Tomorrow I will be calling to try and get another free line.. (Fingers Crossed)
Hope this helps

Opened new account at Costco last week with 2 paid lines and 1 free line. Am I eligible to add a 4th line for free? Magenta, FWIW.

Personally - already on 20% Hookup with 6-lines for $112 plus 4 iPhones on EIP.

Seriously considering adding two to make use of Costco's BYOD ending today and then add this free line tomorrow. And so, "2021 AAL On Us" begins!! Big Grin

So... can I switch to one of the current plans that already has a free line (2 paid + 1 free). Then call tomorrow to get another free line?

Should also add that my current line has the 20% hookup? Would that carry forward too? Okay, I'm just dreaming.

It'll be disabled/limited severely after a short time.

I don't see a start date for eligibility for this free line. Magenta should work as it is their current plan. Usually you will run into issues if you have an older SOC. Screen grab in Reddit shows the list of eligible rate plans for this free line.

T-Mobile One single line. It's $70 but with hookup, I pay $56. Rarely I'll pay $48 if I go under 2GB

Check Reddit if your plan qualifies. Single line customers need two new lines, and one will be free. And unsure if you will be forced to switch plans. You may need to do some legwork to keep existing Hookup. That's critical as it is a lifetime discount.

I feel like this should be 2 separate threads. The free line and another thread for 20% hookup.
