If you remove any paid lines within the first year, the free line loses the promo and becomes paid.

TMO doesn't want people doing what you're wanting to do.

To accomplish it, you would need to:

1. Add free line.
2. Wait a year + one day.
3. Port out paid line to another carrier.
4. Keep paid line active on another carrier for 90 days (to preserve number).
5. Port old number back in on free line.

This whole process has taken you 1.25 years.
My port-in was initiated during T439 promo period and completed today outside of the promo period. Without the port in (with only the added line and traded-in) I was on a bad promo. Once the port-in completed today, the system auto updated to T439 promo in my account --> promotions. Therefore, I don't think it was a requirement the port-ins must be completed by 3/24 EOB, just as long as they are initiated.
YES, you can use this sim in your iPad. I pay for 2 lines and have 3 free lines on promotion (5 lines total)
I have 2 of my free lines in a iPad and a Samsung S4 tablet, with UNLIMITED data.
You have to call them and tell them you want to use the line (promo line) in a tablet but don't want to lose the promotion and you don't want to open a new line for this.
What they did for me, was block the phone service on the line and kept the messaging and data. That way I am able to use it in my tablet.
Every summer my daughter comes and visit from Germany. I take one of the sim card out of my tablet and put it in her phone..
I call T-Mobile and have them unblock the phone service. That way, my daughter has a phone while she is here in country.
When she leaves I call them back and get it blocked again. I have been doing this for close to 5 years. So I know for a fact it works.
Tomorrow I will be calling to try and get another free line.. (Fingers Crossed)
Hope this helps

I have one att line and my parents have 2 t mobile

Can I open an account with the hookup and the current but 2 get one free on my name with the port in of my att number. Then port out to Google voice for 90 days then they port in to lines 2+3? Or would I lose line 3 as a free line by porting in to it in less than a year.

Agent just confirmed up to 12 lines but higher pricing for voice line 9-12 ($30 instead of $20).
Not sure I would trust that agent. Unless something changed with FRLTULF2, all previous documents showed it limited to 8 lines. The next SOC for 9-12 lines was TIULFM9 for those on T-Mobile One plan.

add the free line. wait 1 year. port a paid line out. wait 90 days(?) port back to the free line.
Excellent. I did something similar when I joined T-Mo last year. 16-months of free Sprint, ported to Visible/Cricket (rebates, referrals, cashback). Stayed long enough to come back in as a new T-Mo customer with hookup and trade-in deals with phones from Cricket.

I think people have said that using these free lines in a tablet may result in slower data when TMO recognizes the device is not a phone. Is this also the case if the SIM is put in a Franklin T9 hotspot? Also, if the data is slowed in the tablet or hotspot, does it return to normal in a phone? Or is it going to be slow indefinitely, regardless of device?

someone said you can ask T-Mobile to disable voice and keep data only and then you can use it on tablet. for T9 hotspot, u need to edit the imei on T9. go to T9 thread for that info.

Aww... Sucks the insider hookup is only for those without any voice lines. I only have voice lines, no TMobile home internet. I'm an idiot for missing the first round of hookups Frown

I recently switched from ATT to tmobile like 2 weeks back.
Can I talk with customer rep and ask if this offer can be applied to me. Does this work at all.
