If you remove any paid lines within the first year, the free line loses the promo and becomes paid.

TMO doesn't want people doing what you're wanting to do.

To accomplish it, you would need to:

1. Add free line.
2. Wait a year + one day.
3. Port out paid line to another carrier.
4. Keep paid line active on another carrier for 90 days (to preserve number).
5. Port old number back in on free line.

This whole process has taken you 1.25 years.
My port-in was initiated during T439 promo period and completed today outside of the promo period. Without the port in (with only the added line and traded-in) I was on a bad promo. Once the port-in completed today, the system auto updated to T439 promo in my account --> promotions. Therefore, I don't think it was a requirement the port-ins must be completed by 3/24 EOB, just as long as they are initiated.
YES, you can use this sim in your iPad. I pay for 2 lines and have 3 free lines on promotion (5 lines total)
I have 2 of my free lines in a iPad and a Samsung S4 tablet, with UNLIMITED data.
You have to call them and tell them you want to use the line (promo line) in a tablet but don't want to lose the promotion and you don't want to open a new line for this.
What they did for me, was block the phone service on the line and kept the messaging and data. That way I am able to use it in my tablet.
Every summer my daughter comes and visit from Germany. I take one of the sim card out of my tablet and put it in her phone..
I call T-Mobile and have them unblock the phone service. That way, my daughter has a phone while she is here in country.
When she leaves I call them back and get it blocked again. I have been doing this for close to 5 years. So I know for a fact it works.
Tomorrow I will be calling to try and get another free line.. (Fingers Crossed)
Hope this helps

Save $10 get it done at Costco free sim or if you have a Apple store nearby they will give you a free Tmo sim.
Tmobile currently say it's (the SIM) free if you're adding a line. If it's the same tomorrow, and I add a line, is that line free via the website?

I'm on 10scfm4 and never get any love with these aal deals. Any way to sweet talk my way to an older one plan or something similar to allow me to get on the aal bandwagon? I almost feel the magenta plans are significantly pricier than what I'm on now. I'm paying $140ish for 6 lines.
I believe last year there were 3 Line On Us promos. I have the same SOC plan as you. I didn't bother trying to get the line on the 1st one since the plan was not eligible. On the 2nd promo I went for it since my coworker (same plan) went for it and said it was eligible; it was not listed as eligible but we both got the line for free. On the 3rd promo, it was not listed as eligible either, but I went for it only to find it it wasn't eligible so I had to cancel. So while it wasn't listed as eligible on all 3 promos I was able to get it for free on the 2nd promo (only have to pay $3.xx taxes).

It's been over 90 days since I canceled that line so I may try for this promo. I'll chat with T-force first to see

If you find it you're eligible or not please lmk and I'll do the same if I find it before you. Gotta stick together! Lol. Thanks for your insight.

Well, don't kill the messenger. Let's instead hope it's true. I talked to a CSR about 1-2 weeks ago as I was ordering a phone, and by chance he mentioned my plan (FRLTULF2) can take up to 12 lines. I was a bit surprised to hear that but did not care as I did an EIP on an existing line. Curious now with the promos I chatted up another CSR earlier today, and he confirmed the plan can take up to 12 lines. Maybe one of you guys can call / chat and confirm as well? Maybe things changed in their system?

I have been on this plan probably at least 3-4 years after 1-2 years on a Simple Choice before. T-Mobile One. Missed the hookup. Lost 2 free lines when I switched from SC to One or made some other mistake. Wish I would have kept that $5 5GB tablet line or whatever that was back in the days. You gain some you lose some...

We'll see what happens when I try to activate the 9th line online tomorrow ... I hope it's not going to screw things up. Straightening things up with executive escalations is not an instant event. I had a number port in issue once that messed up the account and don't want an episode like that ever again.

Note: There seem to be
  • FRLTULF2
  • FRLTULFM2
  • FRLTULFM9

Maybe that's were the differences lie?

Can I add one free line now to my account and say after 6 months I would like to port in a number from a different carrier replacing this free line?
Or do I have to port right now or just use the number the new free line comes with?
You can port in whenever you want. You just can't port out within a year.

Our family is currently on a grandfathered plan of 5 lines for $140 a month (before taxes/fees) at 10gb's per line (plus one apple watch cellular for $10 plan). Is that still the best deal?

People who had the original Magenta plan, now referred to as Magenta 1.0, can switch to the new Magenta plan announced ~3 weeks ago. Really no real difference besides the new plan having 5GB of hotspot data and 100GB of priority data (compared with 3GB and 50GB for original Magenta).

If you switch to a Magenta plan for 5 lines you end up paying $160 but taxes and fees included. Unlimited data. Compare the rest of the features, Netflix etc. and whatever you may need or want. And you can add a free line tomorrow. Heck, if you switch tonight you may be able to score a free line and then tomorrow another. But it all depends on your needs for the features etc. Note that the free line(s) would go on top of your existing 5, you cannot replace a paid line with a free one.

the watch line would stay the same but you won't pay taxes on it any longer in case you do now (because you would be on a taxes and fees included plan).

What exactly are people using these "free" lines for? If you have several "free" lines which you are not using for anything and you're paying tax on those lines then its really not a good deal.

When this promo says "voice line for free", does that include a Line Link VOIP line or only cellular voice lines?
