If you remove any paid lines within the first year, the free line loses the promo and becomes paid.

TMO doesn't want people doing what you're wanting to do.

To accomplish it, you would need to:

1. Add free line.
2. Wait a year + one day.
3. Port out paid line to another carrier.
4. Keep paid line active on another carrier for 90 days (to preserve number).
5. Port old number back in on free line.

This whole process has taken you 1.25 years.
My port-in was initiated during T439 promo period and completed today outside of the promo period. Without the port in (with only the added line and traded-in) I was on a bad promo. Once the port-in completed today, the system auto updated to T439 promo in my account --> promotions. Therefore, I don't think it was a requirement the port-ins must be completed by 3/24 EOB, just as long as they are initiated.
YES, you can use this sim in your iPad. I pay for 2 lines and have 3 free lines on promotion (5 lines total)
I have 2 of my free lines in a iPad and a Samsung S4 tablet, with UNLIMITED data.
You have to call them and tell them you want to use the line (promo line) in a tablet but don't want to lose the promotion and you don't want to open a new line for this.
What they did for me, was block the phone service on the line and kept the messaging and data. That way I am able to use it in my tablet.
Every summer my daughter comes and visit from Germany. I take one of the sim card out of my tablet and put it in her phone..
I call T-Mobile and have them unblock the phone service. That way, my daughter has a phone while she is here in country.
When she leaves I call them back and get it blocked again. I have been doing this for close to 5 years. So I know for a fact it works.
Tomorrow I will be calling to try and get another free line.. (Fingers Crossed)
Hope this helps

I had called tmobile multiple times about this (bc not every rep you speak to knows what they are talking about) ; however, the conclusion was this is not possible.

If I insert my voice plan sim into my tablet, the data speed is slower than the dial-up days.

They explained the only option was to purchase a data-only plan...

Did they need any info on your tablet? Because each time I was told it would have to be converted into an e-sim as well...

Thks

Is the new 55+Max plan available for this? They just upped that to 4 lines.

I've got 2 sims on the way now. I need a 3rd line for a phone that is practically always on wifi so I was going to go with like an MVNO for $10 a month. But if I can add a line and get the Max plan then why not.

My SOC is on the list that is eligible for the free line. I am on a 12 line plan and currently have a proxy line. Does the proxy line count against the 12 lines? Thanks in advance.

Be careful, I did the last 2 campaigns for a free line and pixel 4a 5G phones. I'm receiving bill credits to make one free from from the port in / add a line. I also did the promo for add a line and half off pixel 4a 5G. Both reps told me the promo stacks. 2 months later Ive been charged over $30 each line plus tax. I'm currently on a grandfathered simple choice plan. It's a pain having to contact them to manually make lines free because system is not automatically doing it. If they say it will work, MAKE SURE THEY NOTATE THE ACCOUNT...
Take your own notes the dates you called in, who u spoke to, and which call center they are from. I had to call in numerous times for a promotion that each rep told me they notated; however, none actually did.

I had to escalate to 3 different supervisors

This is an opportunity for Tmobile to extend your contracts and/or change your plans. I left Verizon for Tmobile bc I thought Verizon was bad with billing. Tmobile is far worse. I have 4 months left of my contract. When it's finally over, I'm going back to Verizon, the lesser of 2 evils.
I think you just don't know what the heck you're doing if you think T-Mobile is far worse.

read the fine print. must have free line for one year. that's a contract.
Why would you take a free line if you don't plan on using it for an extended amount of time? I guess don't take a free line of you don't want to stay with the company offering it.

So if I have a third line free from a promotion in 2020 (IE, I have three total lines - two paid for and one free), would I be eligible under this promotion to add a fourth line (making two paid for and one free)?

My group has maxed out the voice lines (12), will I be still be able to add this free line or would it be required to upgrade to business plan to support more lines.

It wouldn't be worth my time to get into it. I just don't want to be associated with TMobile due to how terrible they are with billing. They were great on the past, but things have clearly changed.
