If you remove any paid lines within the first year, the free line loses the promo and becomes paid.

TMO doesn't want people doing what you're wanting to do.

To accomplish it, you would need to:

1. Add free line.
2. Wait a year + one day.
3. Port out paid line to another carrier.
4. Keep paid line active on another carrier for 90 days (to preserve number).
5. Port old number back in on free line.

This whole process has taken you 1.25 years.
My port-in was initiated during T439 promo period and completed today outside of the promo period. Without the port in (with only the added line and traded-in) I was on a bad promo. Once the port-in completed today, the system auto updated to T439 promo in my account --> promotions. Therefore, I don't think it was a requirement the port-ins must be completed by 3/24 EOB, just as long as they are initiated.
YES, you can use this sim in your iPad. I pay for 2 lines and have 3 free lines on promotion (5 lines total)
I have 2 of my free lines in a iPad and a Samsung S4 tablet, with UNLIMITED data.
You have to call them and tell them you want to use the line (promo line) in a tablet but don't want to lose the promotion and you don't want to open a new line for this.
What they did for me, was block the phone service on the line and kept the messaging and data. That way I am able to use it in my tablet.
Every summer my daughter comes and visit from Germany. I take one of the sim card out of my tablet and put it in her phone..
I call T-Mobile and have them unblock the phone service. That way, my daughter has a phone while she is here in country.
When she leaves I call them back and get it blocked again. I have been doing this for close to 5 years. So I know for a fact it works.
Tomorrow I will be calling to try and get another free line.. (Fingers Crossed)
Hope this helps

I attempted to have T-mo remove the voice part of my line for tablet usage, and the said it can't be done. I also get super slow speeds if I put this in my wife's unlocked ATT iPad mini from a few years ago. Feels like 2G speeds
I just got off the phone with them about 20 minutes ago.. I had them look at my 2 lines.. she said she don't see what I'm talking about.. but she see that my 2 free lines have tablets on them.. and I asked what other people should do to get what I have.. she said just put the card in the tablet.. I now don't know how I have it.. but I have 2 free lines with 2 tablets that get unlimited lte

you will get $30 Credit as long your plan eligible.

edit: after sim shipped. you should see the promotion in your acct.
Ah, OK. I just decided to reach out to TForce on Twitter and let them handle for me. They've done this in the past. I'll be sure it's set-up correctly then since Tmobile site isn't confirming it's free.

I just called and talked to a T-mo representative, and he told me I need to add 2 lines in order get the 2nd line for free. I can't add one line for free. His accent seems he's out of country, maybe indian. Anybody having the same issue? should I call again to try a different rep? I currently have 5+1free lines and the free line I got is from 2020 Christmas.

You need to checkout. It will adjust to the promotion after the SIM ships if you are eligible. Trust the process.
Thanks. I reached out to TForce through DM on Twitter. I don't need a SIM, I have a couple now available since I upgraded my lines to new 5G SIM. TForce can set up using existing SIM and then no charge -- or sometimes they waive the SIM fee entirely.

You have to maintain at least 2 active paid lines to qualify for the free line because the free line is given through bill credits. If you cancel any of the paid lines falling below the 2 minimum you'll lose the bill credit and the free line will no longer be free. If you decide to cancel all lines at the same time and go somewhere else, you're fine
Not true. I had 3 lines and a tablet. Canceled 1 line due to a death in the family. Promo was cancelled and I lost all credits, even thought they kept saying it will be on your next bill. TMO lied.

I DM'd @TMobileHelp on twitter to see if I qualified, I did, and they got me all set up. There is a $20 assisted service fee and $10 fee for the new sim card. I told them I already had a sim card to use, so they waived the $20 service fee since that is the only way to activate it. You can also save $20 if you activate the line using the app if you don't already have a sim card. DMing @TMobileHelp on twitter is the best way to go for support, you get everything in writing and they are really responsive.

"Thanks so much!

So your current plan supports a maximum of 8 lines, but you can update your plan to one that supports 9+ lines, for sure.

However, while you would be able to keep all the 2020 Line on Us promos you took advantage of (nice going!) you would lose the much older 2018 Fall Add 2 line get One Line promo, so it would come out as paying for one more line in the end.

I know that means it may not be worth it to you, or you may want to do the upgrade to the 9+ line plan, paying for one more line, then you'll be sitting pretty to add more lines (maximum of 12) in the future if we have more free line promos (which seem to be coming pretty regular these days!) Let me know what you think! ^"

Really tempted to get another free line, but I don't want to mess up my billing. I switched to T-Mobile a year and 3 months ago with the 20% insider hookup deal, got one free line on switching, and took advantage of all four free lines from last year. So I have nine lines total. When I added the last line in December my entire promotion was changed and my bill dropped to a shocking $66 for nine magenta lines. so I'm hesitant to had anything or make changes to my account because I don't want to lose this deal that I have had since the end of December.
I am in a similar situation, but went ahead and added the free line today. The account total didn't change and the new free line promotion (2021 Line on Us 6 (Additional Lines)) got applied to the account.

Is there a way to get a free phone with the activation of this new line?

How does this work?
Hookup was offered until September end last year. Joined Magenta with 4-lines with 20% discount, with 3rd line free. $140 - $28 = $112. Then, added two free lines in November and December. If I had timed it right, I could have had 6-lines for $96, but missed it by a few days. The iPhones (2 11 Pro, 2 11 Pro Max) on EIP were either free or almost free with trade-ins. The free lines added later were BYOD.
