If you remove any paid lines within the first year, the free line loses the promo and becomes paid.

TMO doesn't want people doing what you're wanting to do.

To accomplish it, you would need to:

1. Add free line.
2. Wait a year + one day.
3. Port out paid line to another carrier.
4. Keep paid line active on another carrier for 90 days (to preserve number).
5. Port old number back in on free line.

This whole process has taken you 1.25 years.
My port-in was initiated during T439 promo period and completed today outside of the promo period. Without the port in (with only the added line and traded-in) I was on a bad promo. Once the port-in completed today, the system auto updated to T439 promo in my account --> promotions. Therefore, I don't think it was a requirement the port-ins must be completed by 3/24 EOB, just as long as they are initiated.
YES, you can use this sim in your iPad. I pay for 2 lines and have 3 free lines on promotion (5 lines total)
I have 2 of my free lines in a iPad and a Samsung S4 tablet, with UNLIMITED data.
You have to call them and tell them you want to use the line (promo line) in a tablet but don't want to lose the promotion and you don't want to open a new line for this.
What they did for me, was block the phone service on the line and kept the messaging and data. That way I am able to use it in my tablet.
Every summer my daughter comes and visit from Germany. I take one of the sim card out of my tablet and put it in her phone..
I call T-Mobile and have them unblock the phone service. That way, my daughter has a phone while she is here in country.
When she leaves I call them back and get it blocked again. I have been doing this for close to 5 years. So I know for a fact it works.
Tomorrow I will be calling to try and get another free line.. (Fingers Crossed)
Hope this helps

No

one per offer, so you can get another one with this promo

the reddit post links a way to find your own SOC

one free per promo per account.

Nope, only the voice lines get the promo.

no, if you close a line in the last 30 days you would need to reopen it before getting the free line
The requirement is to recover line which was closed in 30 or 90 days? In my memory, it's 90 days.

I have the 2 for $120 Magenta plan with SOC code "MAGENTA2" (which is eligible for this promo). But I recently noticed that my account now labels my plan as "Magenta 1.0" when it always just used to say "Magenta". It never had the "1.0" before until recently. It appears that T-Mobile updated their Magenta plan recently and now just call it "Magenta" in the app (instead of "Magenta 2.0" or whatever) if you wanna switch to it in the app, but existing Magenta customers did not automatically get upgraded to it. From what I can tell, the only difference is that the new "Magenta" plan now has 5GB of hotspot data but the old "Magenta 1.0" only has 3GB. Both plans are 2 for $120.

So my questions are:
  • Are there any downsides to upgrading from "Magenta 1.0" to the new "Magenta" plan? It appears that old Magenta customers would only benefit from upgrading. What am I missing?
  • Does anyone know the SOC code for the new "Magenta" plan? I want to check if it's eligible for this promotion.
The new magenta SOC is MGNTA9, I think

T-Mobile One single line. It's $70 but with hookup, I pay $56. Rarely I'll pay $48 if I go under 2GB
Quote from coolchicagoguy :
Check Reddit if your plan qualifies. Single line customers need two new lines, and one will be free. And unsure if you will be forced to switch plans. You may need to do some legwork to keep existing Hookup. That's critical as it is a lifetime discount.
i believe they have a kicker this time around for current customers with only one line. . .on the bogo aal thats probably ending today?. . .if you add 3 lines today the 1st will be your 2nd paid line. then they will give you normal 3rd line free an4d 4th line free as bogo deal.
then tomorrow add 5th line free, and with hookup youd be at $96 for 5. if you can use them. i put my folks on 2 of them which saves them $70 a month

Really tempted to get another free line, but I don't want to mess up my billing. I switched to T-Mobile a year and 3 months ago with the 20% insider hookup deal, got one free line on switching, and took advantage of all four free lines from last year. So I have nine lines total. When I added the last line in December my entire promotion was changed and my bill dropped to a shocking $66 for nine magenta lines. so I'm hesitant to had anything or make changes to my account because I don't want to lose this deal that I have had since the end of December.

Is it? I thought it was an limit 8 plan.
That's what an agent said a week or so ago that I had a 12 line limit. Would be good to confirm though I guess.

Is there a way for us to see the line limit in the account?

i think magenta2 meant 2-8 lines. magenta9 is 9-12 lines? and old magenta2 has been renamed Magenta 1.0 ?

Cannot have closed a line in the last 30, the 90 day is for porting in. Can't have been a number on tmo network in last 90 days to qualify for port in promos

Many people hitting the 8 lines limit and possibly move to new magenta for this offer. If additional discount is due to 9th line then, I believe, due to this new promo tmobile will catch up and update. Hope is does not happen but seems likely the case.

I jumped on this one- I've unfortunately lost a few (always under very specific circumstances) and still recall the 20 dollar wingmans from home depot black friday sales. They work well, but they do not have a pocket clip. They did come with a sheath.

if u max out with 8 lines you can move to FRLTULFM9 with 12 lines limit. it will even lower your total.
