If you remove any paid lines within the first year, the free line loses the promo and becomes paid.

TMO doesn't want people doing what you're wanting to do.

To accomplish it, you would need to:

1. Add free line.
2. Wait a year + one day.
3. Port out paid line to another carrier.
4. Keep paid line active on another carrier for 90 days (to preserve number).
5. Port old number back in on free line.

This whole process has taken you 1.25 years.
My port-in was initiated during T439 promo period and completed today outside of the promo period. Without the port in (with only the added line and traded-in) I was on a bad promo. Once the port-in completed today, the system auto updated to T439 promo in my account --> promotions. Therefore, I don't think it was a requirement the port-ins must be completed by 3/24 EOB, just as long as they are initiated.
YES, you can use this sim in your iPad. I pay for 2 lines and have 3 free lines on promotion (5 lines total)
I have 2 of my free lines in a iPad and a Samsung S4 tablet, with UNLIMITED data.
You have to call them and tell them you want to use the line (promo line) in a tablet but don't want to lose the promotion and you don't want to open a new line for this.
What they did for me, was block the phone service on the line and kept the messaging and data. That way I am able to use it in my tablet.
Every summer my daughter comes and visit from Germany. I take one of the sim card out of my tablet and put it in her phone..
I call T-Mobile and have them unblock the phone service. That way, my daughter has a phone while she is here in country.
When she leaves I call them back and get it blocked again. I have been doing this for close to 5 years. So I know for a fact it works.
Tomorrow I will be calling to try and get another free line.. (Fingers Crossed)
Hope this helps

Chatting with agent right now, apparently he is saying that port in from Sprint DOES NOT QUALIFY for free phones. Can anyone else comment or had someone else tell them different today?

I am in a similar situation, but went ahead and added the free line today. The account total didn't change and the new free line promotion (2021 Line on Us 6 (Additional Lines)) got applied to the account.
Thanks -- I just did it as well!

Are you able to add a line but not attach a phone to it/use it? That way I can add someone to it later?

For the people who said the Free Line + Pixel 4a 5g $175 promo doesn't stack, here is my convo with T-Force. I already have the order processed. If they ask about the $30 cover charge for sim/activation, just act stupid as hell and pretend you didn't know about that fee, they waived it for me.
Lmao... I said fine and they were like, I'm going to waive that for you.

Is there anyway to do trade-in later. I plan on buying a phone for trade and don't have the imei available right now.
T-Mo rep said yes !
We can add it later on as long as that trade-in and/or port-in offer is still active !

Costco manager said "you can combine this offer with BYOD offer which gives $150 rebate" !
I asked "it was $300 rebate correct?" and he said the offer changed to $150 from today (probably to off set this free line promo to some extend)!
This is assuming you don't want to utilize any "device promo" obviously ! You can't combine BYOD promo with a device promo as the name suggests...LOL

well, its also noted in the wiki that you cant stack this free line with costco BYOD promo. i guess its YMMV but ive never tried because TMO lines are way too sensitive and brittle. many things break so I havent tried. would like to see some DPs though.

Where can you get a port number nowadays? Ebay sellers are blocked.
